CLAT 2027 Application Form Open; Check Last Date, UG Eligibility, Exam Date and Fees

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has opened the CLAT 2027 application form for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law admissions.

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has opened the CLAT 2027 application form for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law admissions. Candidates can register through the official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in, until October 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM.  For candidates applying to the five-year integrated LL.B. programme, the CLAT 2027 UG eligibility criteria do not specify a particular Class 12 subject stream. Candidates who have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with at least 45% marks can apply. The minimum requirement is 40% for candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories. There is also no upper age limit for CLAT UG 2027. The Consortium has scheduled CLAT 2027 for December 6, 2026, in offline mode. The examination will be conducted from 2 PM to 4 PM, while eligible PwD candidates will receive extended time up to 4:40 PM. 

CLAT 2027 Applications Open; Check Last Date 

The CLAT 2027 application process opened on August 3, 2026. Candidates must complete the application, upload the required documents and pay the applicable fee by 11:59 PM on October 31, 2026. Incomplete applications will not be considered. CLAT 2027 will be used for admissions to the five-year integrated LL.B. and one-year LL.M. programmes beginning in the 2027-28 academic year at participating National Law Universities. 

CLAT 2027 UG Eligibility: No Specific Class 12 Stream Required 

The Consortium's official UG eligibility criteria do not prescribe a particular Class 12 stream. The requirement is based on passing 10+2 or an equivalent examination with the prescribed minimum marks.

Therefore, the eligibility criteria do not restrict applicants to a particular Science, Commerce or Arts stream. Candidates should, however, check the admission requirements of the participating NLU they intend to apply to, as the Consortium advises applicants to review individual university rules, reservation policies and programme details.  There is no upper age limit for CLAT UG 2027. Students appearing for their qualifying examination in March or April 2027 can also apply. They will have to provide evidence of passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission. 

CLAT 2027 Exam Date and Pattern 

CLAT 2027 will be held on December 6, 2026, in offline mode. The UG examination will have 120 multiple-choice questions, with a duration of two hours. Each correct answer carries one mark, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer. 

The UG question paper will cover five areas: 

• English Language
• Current Affairs, including General Knowledge
• Legal Reasoning
• Logical Reasoning
• Quantitative Techniques

The Consortium has indicated approximate section-wise weightage rather than a fixed number of questions: English Language and Logical Reasoning are expected to have 22–26 questions each, Current Affairs including General Knowledge and Legal Reasoning 28–32 questions each, and Quantitative Techniques 10–14 questions. 

CLAT 2027 Application Fee 

The CLAT 2027 application fee for UG applicants is: 

• ₹4,000 for General/OBC candidates
• ₹3,500 for SC/ST/BPL/PwD candidates

The application fee is payable online and is non-refundable and non-adjustable. Candidates can also purchase previous years' question papers for an additional ₹500.

Documents Required for CLAT 2027 Application

Candidates should keep the required documents ready before submitting the form. The Consortium's instructions list:

• Recent passport-size photograph with a plain background
• Candidate's signature
• SC/ST/OBC certificate, where applicable
• PwD certificate, where applicable
• BPL certificate, where applicable

The documents/certificates specified in the instructions are to be uploaded in PDF format. Original documents may be required by the allotted NLU during admission.

How to Apply for CLAT 2027

Candidates can complete the CLAT 2027 application process by following these steps:

1. Visit the official CLAT website at consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
2. Register using a personal mobile number and email ID.
3. Validate the registration through the OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
4. Log in using the registered credentials.
5. Select the UG or PG programme and fill in the application details.
6. Upload the required documents.
7. Pay the application fee online.
8. Review all details carefully and submit the completed application.

The Consortium has specifically advised candidates to check their details before final submission. Once the application is submitted and the fee is paid, changes to certain fields, including the programme and category, are not permitted.

CLAT 2027 Application: What Candidates Should Check

Candidates should complete the application before the October 31, 2026 deadline rather than waiting until the final hours. They should also ensure that their name and other details match their certificates and identity documents. Those appearing for Class 12 or another qualifying examination in 2027 can apply, but admission will remain subject to submission of proof of passing the qualifying examination. Candidates should use the official CLAT 2027 website for application-related updates and check the individual NLU websites for university-specific admission, reservation and programme requirements.
