The NMAT 2026 testing window is underway and will close on December 20, 2026. Candidates scheduled for upcoming slots must report to their test centre at least 45 minutes before their appointment time. A printed admit card and one original, valid government-issued photo ID are mandatory for entry. Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and bags are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall. Late arrivals may be barred from taking the test with no fee refund.
NMAT 2026 is being conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) as a computer-adaptive test across multiple centres in India. The exam window runs from November 2 to December 20, 2026 . Candidates who have completed their first attempt can proceed with retake registration subject to GMAC's rules.
NMAT 2026 Reporting Time and Check-In Process
Candidates must arrive at the test centre at least 45 minutes before their scheduled slot. The check-in process involves several mandatory steps:
- Admit card scanning by centre staff
- Identity authentication, including facial verification
- Signature verification against registration records
- Government photo ID verification
- Security screening, including frisking and metal detector checks
Candidates should cooperate fully with staff during security checks and keep their verification documents ready before entering the exam hall. Arriving early helps complete biometric logging and document verification without last-minute stress.
Late reporting consequence: Candidates who arrive after the designated check-in window may be denied entry. No fee refund will be provided in such cases.
Documents to Carry: Mandatory Requirements
Only two categories of documents are required, but both are non-negotiable:
| Document | Requirement |
|---|---|
| NMAT admit card | A fresh, clean printout downloaded from the official dashboard for the specific attempt. Soft copies on phones are not accepted. |
| Photo ID proof | One original, valid, non-expired government-issued photo ID: Aadhaar Card, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, or Driver's License. |
Invalid ID documents: Photocopies, digital copies, learner's driving licenses, and IDs with outdated or childhood photographs will result in denied entry.
The admit card becomes available on the candidate dashboard 7 days before the exam date . Candidates should download and print it well in advance to avoid last-minute issues.

Candidates should leave prohibited items at home or with a companion. There is no secure storage facility at most test centres.
Retake Registration for Candidates Who Have Appeared
Candidates who have completed their first NMAT attempt can register for a retake. Key rules:
- Up to three attempts are permitted in a testing year (July 1 to June 30)
- A retake can be scheduled after the previous attempt is completed
- If the scorecard shows a valid score, the next attempt must be at least 7 days later
- If the attempt is marked as No Show, NDA Refused, or Incomplete, a new slot can be booked 24 hours later
Retake registration is available on the candidate dashboard after the first attempt. Candidates should check slot availability early, as seats are allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.
What Happens If You Miss Your Slot
A missed NMAT appointment is marked as a "No Show" and counts as one of the three permitted attempts . The exam fee is forfeited. Candidates who miss a slot can schedule a new attempt after 24 hours, subject to slot availability and payment of retake fees.
There is no provision for rescheduling within 72 hours of the appointment time. Candidates who expect they won't be able to attend should plan accordingly before the slot is locked.
