SRMJEEE 2027: Two Phases, One Deadline — and It Closes Before Your JEE Main Rank Does

Quick Answer: SRMJEEE 2027 has two phases (down from three in 2026). Apply by 2 April 2027 for the Phase 1 exam (17–18 April) or by 4 June 2027 for Phase 2 (19–20 June). Fee: ₹1,400 per phase, non-refundable. The catch: JEE Main Session 2 starts on 2 April, the same day Phase 1 registration closes, so your final JEE Main rank arrives after the SRM form is gone. Apply at applications.srmist.edu.in/btech.

What's New: SRMJEEE Drops from Three Phases to Two
SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has opened applications for SRMJEEE 2027 B.Tech admissions. Registration opened on 4 November 2026.
| Feature | 2026 | 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Number of phases | Three | Two |
| First / second exam period | April / June | April / June |
| Third exam period | July | Not announced |
| Fee | ₹1,400/phase | ₹1,400/phase |
| Questions / negative marking | 130 / No | 130 / No |
Fewer phases does not automatically mean a harder exam, but it does mean fewer chances to appear. Miss Phase 1 and only the June phase remains. Applying never guarantees admission, a preferred branch, or an affordable fee.
SRMJEEE 2027 Dates: Phase 1 vs Phase 2

SRMJEEE 2027 Important Dates: Phase 1 and Phase 2
| Factor | Phase 1 | Phase 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Exam | 17–18 April | 19–20 June |
| Apply by | 2 April | 4 June |
| Fee | ₹1,400 | ₹1,400 |
| Admission timeline | Earlier | Later |
| Prep time | Less | More |
| Suited for | Already eyeing SRMIST | Needs more time or another shot |
Can you write both? Yes, with a separate application and fee for each (₹2,800 total). Candidates can apply for both phases by submitting separate applications and paying the fee for each phase. The combined application fee will be ₹2,800.
Candidates should not assume that a better Phase 2 score will automatically replace their Phase 1 rank. Previous years used separate counselling processes for different phases.
Slot booking, hall ticket, result, and counselling dates have not yet been announced. SRMIST describes its examination dates as tentative.
Why Does the SRMJEEE Phase 1 Deadline Clash with JEE Main 2027?
The SRMJEEE Phase 1 registration deadline coincides with the beginning of JEE Main Session 2.
This creates a planning challenge for candidates who want to evaluate their JEE Main performance before deciding whether to apply for private university entrance examinations.
| vent | Date |
|---|---|
| VITEEE application deadline | 31 March 2027 |
| SRMJEEE Phase 1 apply-by | 2 April 2027 |
| JEE Main Session 2 | 2–7 April 2027 |
| AEEE 2027 exam window | 15 April–7 May 2027 |
| SRMJEEE Phase 1 exam | 17–18 April 2027 |
| VITEEE exam window | 27 April–2 May (tentative) |
| SRMJEEE Phase 2 apply-by / exam | 4 June / 19–20 June 2027 |
Students targeting NITs and IIITs may prefer to wait for their JEE Main Session 2 results before spending money on private university examinations. However, by then, SRMJEEE Phase 1 registration will have closed.
VITEEE registration closes even earlier, on 31 March 2027.
This does not mean every JEE Main aspirant should apply for SRMJEEE. Candidates should decide based on their interest in SRMIST, preferred programmes, and financial planning.
Who Is Eligible for SRMJEEE 2027?
For most B. Tech programmes, candidates must have at least 60% aggregate in Physics, Mathematics, and one approved third subject in Class 12.
Candidates who have passed Class 12 or are appearing for their Class 12 examinations can apply, subject to programme-specific requirements.
Approved Third Subjects
The approved third subjects include:
- Chemistry
- Biotechnology
- Biology
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Informatics Practices
- Engineering Graphics
- Botany
- Zoology
Eligibility Without Chemistry
Candidates without Chemistry may be eligible for certain programmes if they have studied an approved alternative subject, such as Computer Science, along with Physics and Mathematics.
Eligibility depends on the selected programme.
PCB Students
PCB candidates may be eligible for specific programmes, including:
- Biotechnology
- Genetic Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
Some programmes may require an additional four-credit Mathematics course during the first year.
Age Limit
Candidates must be at least 16 years and 6 months old on 31 July of their Class 12 examination year.
For candidates appearing in Class 12 in 2027, the date of birth should be on or before 31 January 2011.
Can Droppers Apply?
The 2026 FAQ permitted candidates with a gap of up to three years. Candidates should verify the applicable 2027 rules before applying.
Example of Eligibility Calculation:
Suppose a candidate scores:
- Physics: 62
- Mathematics: 65
- Computer Science: 74
- Aggregate = (62 + 65 + 74) ÷ 3 = 67%
Therefore, the candidate meets the 60% aggregate requirement for these three subjects.
The eligibility percentage is calculated using the three specified subjects, not the overall Class 12 percentage.
SRMJEEE 2027 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
| Section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | 35 | 35 |
| Chemistry | 35 | 35 |
| Mathematics or Biology | 40 | 40 |
| English and Aptitude | 20 | 20 |
| Total | 130 | 130 |
Marking Scheme:
- Correct answer: +1 mark
- Incorrect answer: 0 marks
- Unattempted question: 0 marks
- Negative marking: No
Candidates have approximately 69 seconds per question. Since there is no negative marking, attempting all questions is advisable, while prioritising questions they can answer confidently.

SRMJEEE Remote-Proctored Examination
SRMJEEE is conducted as a Remote Proctored Online Examination.
Candidates can take the examination from home using:
- A desktop computer or laptop
- A working webcam
- A stable internet connection
A mobile phone is not accepted as an examination device. Earlier guidelines mentioned an internet speed of 2 Mbps.
Candidates should attempt the official mock test when it becomes available to familiarise themselves with the examination interface and remote proctoring requirements.
Which SRM Campus Fits Your Budget? 8-Campus CSE Fees
The campus and programme fee structure is an important consideration for candidates choosing SRMIST.
The following comparison highlights the annual Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) tuition fees across eight campuses.
| SRM Campus | CSE Annual Tuition | Estimated Four-Year Tuition | AI & ML Annual Tuition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kattankulathur | ₹4.75 lakh | ₹19 lakh | ₹4.75 lakh |
| Andhra Pradesh | ₹4.00 lakh | ₹16 lakh | ₹4.00 lakh |
| Ramapuram | ₹3.50 lakh | ₹14 lakh | ₹3.75 lakh |
| Vadapalani | ₹3.50 lakh | ₹14 lakh | ₹3.50 lakh |
| Ghaziabad | ₹3.50 lakh | ₹14 lakh | ₹3.50 lakh |
| Sonepat | ₹3.41 lakh | ₹13.64 lakh | ₹3.41 lakh |
| Tiruchirappalli | ₹2.50 lakh | ₹10 lakh | ₹2.75 lakh |
| Sikkim | ₹2.00 lakh | ₹8 lakh | ₹2.00 lakh |

The gap between the cheapest and costliest CSE seat is ₹11 lakh over four years. Discuss this at home before choosing campus preferences.
Reading placement numbers: several "highest package" figures are advertised, university-wide or undated, not B.Tech or CSE specific. The ₹60 LPA shown for Kattankulathur and Ghaziabad is an SRMIST-wide 2026 record. Don't compare highest packages across campuses; ask each campus for programme-specific data. Fees may change for 2027.
What About SRM Placements?
Candidates should carefully evaluate placement statistics before selecting a campus.
Several advertised highest-package figures are university-wide or undated rather than specific to B.Tech or CSE.
The ₹60 LPA figures shown for Kattankulathur and Ghaziabad represent an SRMIST-wide 2026 record.
Candidates should ask individual campuses for programme-specific placement information rather than directly comparing the highest packages across campuses.
Fees and programme availability may change for the 2027 admission cycle.

- Board and school information
- Identity details
- Recent photograph
- Signature
- Active email address and mobile number
- Online payment method
What If the Application Fee Is Paid but Status Shows Pending?
Earlier application guidance advised candidates to wait up to 24 hours if payment was successful, but the application status remained pending.
If the status does not update, candidates should raise a technical query with the university.
Avoid making a second payment immediately.
Candidates should also verify their application details before payment, as they should not assume that a separate correction window will be provided.
After the Exam: Results, Counselling, Seat Allotment
SRMJEEE 2027 result and rank details will be made available through the official admission portal. The result and counselling dates have not yet been announced.
The counselling process generally involves the following stages:
- Rank declaration.
- Eligibility verification.
- Online choice filling for campuses and programmes.
- Seat allotment.
- Payment of admission fees.
- Provisional admission confirmation.
- Document verification.
Candidates should remember:
- Programme preferences entered during the initial application were used for statistics; actual campus and programme choices are made during counselling.
- Obtaining an SRMJEEE rank does not guarantee admission.
- The ₹1,400 application fee covers the entrance examination application only.
- Counselling, seat confirmation, and tuition fees are separate payments.
SRMJEEE 2027 Preparation Strategy: Is It a Good JEE Main Backup?
- Use the official syllabus (Class 11 and 12), not guesses.
- Take timed mocks of 130 questions in 150 minutes and review accuracy and attempts.
- Practise English and Aptitude: 20 easy marks.
- Attempt everything; no negative marking.
- Practise the remote format to avoid browser and camera surprises.
- Keep PCM revision going for JEE Main, then use the gap before 17 April for SRMJEEE-specific practice.
SRMJEEE is a useful extra option if you genuinely want an SRM campus and can afford it, but it is not automatic admission insurance. Compare branch, campus, four-year tuition, living costs, scholarships, programme-specific placements, and refund policy first. If you have no interest in SRMIST or can't afford it, applying "because the form is open" gains little.
SRMJEEE vs VITEEE vs AEEE vs JEE Main 2027
Candidates planning to appear for multiple engineering entrance examinations should maintain a separate calendar for each examination.
| Exam | Key date | Planning point |
|---|---|---|
| VITEEE 2027 | Apply by 31 March | Closes before JEE Main Session 2 |
| JEE Main 2027 | Session 2: 2–7 April | Major national route |
| SRMJEEE Phase 1 | Apply by 2 April | Closes as Session 2 begins |
| AEEE 2027 | Exam: 15 Apr–7 May | Another private route |
| SRMJEEE Phase 2 | Apply by 4 June | Later SRM opportunity |
Each has its own rank and counselling process; one university's result doesn't work for another. Track application deadlines, exam windows, result dates, and counselling payment dates separately.
Your plan: Nov–Dec 2026 review eligibility and fees; Jan–Feb shortlist colleges and discuss budget; March finalise applications; by 2 April pay for Phase 1 if chosen. Don't leave it to the last day: payment failures and upload problems are common in the final hours.
Suggested Application Planning Timeline
| Period | What Candidates Should Do |
|---|---|
| November–December 2026 | Review eligibility and fee structures |
| January–February 2027 | Shortlist colleges and discuss budgets |
| March 2027 | Finalise entrance examination applications |
| By 2 April 2027 | Complete SRMJEEE Phase 1 application, if opting for it |
Candidates should avoid waiting until the last day because payment failures and document-upload issues may occur during the final hours.
Final Verdict: Phase 1 or Wait for Phase 2?
If SRMIST is a genuine option, Phase 1 deserves serious consideration: earlier exam, earlier admission process. If you need more prep time, Phase 2 remains available, subject to its deadline and seat availability. Decide whether SRMJEEE belongs in your plan before the application deadline, not after your JEE Main result.
