MAT Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
MAT has five sections of 30 questions each, 150 questions in total, to be attempted in 120 minutes. Each correct answer earns one mark and each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks. Unattempted questions carry no penalty. The syllabus, duration, question count and marking scheme are the same in both modes.
What Happens Next
- Scorecard: AIMA releases the scorecards of all sessions and modes together, roughly 15–20 days after the session, according to Shiksha. AIMA announces result dates only on mat.aima.in, so any other date is an estimate.
- Where to check: Candidates download the scorecard from the applicant dashboard at mat.aima.in.
- Score sharing: AIMA sends scores to the five institutes chosen in the application form. Candidates can apply to other colleges separately.
- Selection: Colleges typically shortlist on MAT cut-offs, then hold GD, WAT and PI rounds.
- Validity: A MAT score remains valid for one year.
