Changes to the Expert Panel
NTA will remove around 600 existing experts from its examination group and induct new professionals. Around 20 to 25 senior professionals are expected to join within the next two to three weeks. The new panels will focus on strengthening different stages of the examination process.
Domain Experts to Join NTA
The ministry plans to bring in private-sector professionals with expertise in key areas, including:
- Cybersecurity
- Psychometrics
- Question Paper Design
- Examination Security
Further recruitment will take place in later stages to build stronger in-house examination expertise at NTA.
CISF Security at NTA Offices
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) teams will be deployed to protect NTA offices. The move is aimed at strengthening physical security and preventing unauthorised access to sensitive examination-related operations.
Exams Covered Under the New Rules
The new security measures will apply to examinations conducted by NTA, including:
- NEET-UG
- JEE Main
- CUET-UG
- UGC-NET
- CSIR-NET
- CUET-PG
Other major admission and scholarship examinations conducted by NTA will also come under the new guidelines. The new system is expected to apply to future examination cycles from 2026 onwards.
Background of the Reform
The overhaul follows concerns raised after the NEET-UG 2024 question paper leak controversy. The UGC-NET June 2024 examination was also cancelled shortly after the exam amid concerns related to examination integrity. These incidents prompted the ministry to take stronger measures to improve examination security and prevent future disruptions.
