MP NEET PG 2026 Round 1 Reporting, Admissions Paused After High Court Order

Published 4 Nov 20263 min read

Madhya Pradesh has suspended all Round 1 reporting, document verification, and admission formalities for NEET PG 2026 with immediate effect, following an interim order from the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s Jabalpur Bench dated November 2, 2026. Candidates who were allotted seats must not proceed to their colleges until the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) issues fresh instructions .
What Exactly Has Been Paused?
The suspension covers the following steps for candidates allotted seats in the state’s first counselling round:
Physical reporting at allotted medical colleges
Document verification at the institution level
Admission confirmation and seat-securing formalities
The freeze applies across all medical colleges covered under the state’s Round 1 NEET PG allotments, including government and private institutions .
Why Was the Process Halted?
The DME’s decision follows an interim order passed by the Madhya Pradesh High Court (Jabalpur Bench) on November 2, 2026, in connection with Writ Petition No. 44909/2026, filed by Dr. Sarvjeet Singh and another against the State of Madhya Pradesh .
According to reports, the petition challenged the merit list preparation methodology, alleging that open-category and in-service candidate merit lists were improperly merged, disadvantaging open-category candidates with higher scores. The High Court also directed that in-service candidates be allotted no more than 30% of seats in each specialisation .
What Should Allotted Candidates Do Now?
Do not visit your allotted college for reporting or admission at this stage. The admission process is legally paused, and any action taken now may not be recognised .
Immediate steps for affected candidates:
Keep your allotment letter and all documents safe — you will need them once the process resumes
Monitor the official DME Madhya Pradesh website (medicaleducation.mp.gov.in) and the MPOnline portal (dme.mponline.gov.in) daily for updates
Do not pay fees or submit original documents until a fresh notice confirms resumption
If you already submitted documents before the halt, contact your allotted college’s admission office to confirm the status — but do not assume your admission is cancelled
No new reporting deadline has been announced. The freeze remains in place pending further court directions .
What Happens Next?
The High Court has listed the matter for further hearing on November 5, 2026, at 2:30 PM . The DME will issue fresh instructions only after the Court’s next order.
Your allotted seat is currently under a legal hold — it has not been cancelled, but it is not yet confirmed. The outcome could be:
- The admission process resumes as originally planned
- The process is modified with new allotments
- The entire Round 1 is cancelled, and a fresh round is conducted
- Candidates should rely solely on official DME notices and avoid acting on unverified social media updates.
