NBEMS opened the application window for the FMGE October 2026 session on September 11, 2026, at 5 PM. Candidates can apply online at natboard.edu.in until September 25, 2026, 11:55 PM. The exam is scheduled for October 31, 2026, in computer-based test (CBT) mode at centres across India, with results expected by November 30, 2026.

Why This Session Matters

NBEMS has moved from conducting FMGE twice a year to three times a year, and the October 2026 sitting is the additional session this change has introduced. For Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India who completed their primary medical qualification outside India, clearing FMGE is a mandatory step before they can register with the National Medical Commission (NMC) and practise medicine in India — so this extra sitting gives eligible candidates another chance within the same year rather than waiting for the next scheduled cycle.

Who Needs to Take FMGE

FMGE is a screening test for Indian citizens and OCI candidates who obtained their primary medical qualification from an institution outside India and wish to register to practise in India. According to commonly reported eligibility rules, candidates with an undergraduate medical degree from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the United States or the United Kingdom are exempt from appearing for FMGE. (This exemption list is not confirmed by the primary update tracked for this article — verify it against the current information bulletin before relying on it.)

How to Apply for FMGE October 2026

  1. Visit the official NBEMS website - nbe.edu.in
  2. Go to the FMGE link under the screening-test section
  3. Complete new registration with your name, date of birth, gender, nationality, mobile number and email ID
  4. Receive your login ID and password on your registered email
  5. Log in and open the application form
  6. Fill in personal and academic details, and select your exam centre preference
  7. Upload the prescribed photograph, signature and thumb impression
  8. Pay the application fee online
  9. Submit the form and save the confirmation page for your records

Direct application link (as provided by NBEMS at the time of writing): https://cdn3.digialm.com//EForms/configuredHtml/1815/100817//Index.html — exam-portal links like this can be session-specific, so if it doesn't load, navigate to the FMGE section from the official NBEMS homepage instead.

Application Fee

ComponentAmount
Base examination fee₹5,250
GST (18%)₹945
Total₹6,195

Payment gateway charges may apply on top of this. Note: one report cited a different figure (₹4,650) for the same session — the ₹6,195 figure is used here because it is internally consistent (₹5,250 + 18% GST) and repeated across multiple updates, but candidates should confirm the exact payable amount on the NBEMS payment page before transacting.

Documents and Eligibility Verification

Candidates should keep their primary medical qualification degree/provisional pass certificate, along with any required Apostille or Embassy Attestation, ready before applying. Some reports on this cycle add two points worth flagging for verification against the official bulletin:

  • The attestation submitted must correspond to the exact qualification document being relied on for eligibility — a mismatch can be treated as use of unfair means and may lead to cancellation of candidature even after an admit card is issued or the exam is taken.
  • The degree or provisional pass certificate may need to confirm that the final qualifying exam result was declared on or before August 31, 2026.

NBEMS uses Aadhaar-based authentication only as a facilitative identity-verification measure; it is not, by itself, treated as proof of eligibility, and the Aadhaar number itself is not retained for this purpose.

Correction/Edit Window

A selective edit window is open from October 3 to October 19, 2026, strictly for candidates who need to correct an issue with their uploaded photograph, signature or thumb impression. This is not a general correction window for other application details.

Rules Candidates Must Know Before Applying

  • One application only: Submitting more than one form can lead to cancellation of the extra applications and forfeiture of the fee paid on them.
  • No withdrawal: Once submitted, an FMGE application cannot be withdrawn, and the fee does not carry forward to a future session.
  • No refund on absence or ineligibility: The fee is forfeited if a candidate is absent from the exam or is later found ineligible.
  • No centre-change requests: NBEMS allots the test centre, and its decision is final.
  • Scribe/compensatory time: Candidates who need this facility must submit the applicable disability documentation and prescribed appendix along with the application.
  • Image specifications matter: Photographs, signatures or thumb impressions that don't meet the prescribed specifications can lead to application rejection.

Exam Pattern

FMGE is a computer-based, multiple-choice test. Based on cross-referenced reporting (not confirmed in the primary update), it typically comprises 300 questions split into two papers of 150 questions each, with a break between them. (Confirm exact pattern and duration against the current information bulletin.)

What Happens After the Exam

Results are expected by November 30, 2026. Qualified candidates are issued a Pass Certificate, which must be collected as per the schedule NBEMS assigns. If it isn't collected on schedule, candidates get up to six months from the result declaration to do so — after which the candidature and result are treated as cancelled.

Official Website

Applications, admit cards and results are all handled through the official NBEMS website, natboard.edu.in. Candidates should avoid third-party links claiming to offer the application form.
