WBJEE 2026 Phase 1 Decentralised Counselling: Registration Opens Today, Closes Tomorrow

Registration for WBJEE 2026 Phase 1 Decentralized Counselling opened today, September 7, 2026, on the official portal, wbjeeb.nic.in. The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) is using this round to fill 36,491 seats that remained vacant after the earlier centralized counselling rounds — 33,857 in Engineering, Technology and Architecture, and 2,634 in Pharmacy. Candidates have a tight window: registration, fee payment and choice filling all close tomorrow, September 8, 2026.

Quick Facts: WBJEE 2026 Decentralized Counselling

Full Schedule

A gap worth flagging: the exact allotment date isn't listed in every official-style notice yet, but multiple current trackers converge on September 10 for the first Phase 1 allotment list, with at least one source citing a second list on September 13. Candidates should treat September 10 as the date to start watching wbjeeb.nic.in closely, while confirming the precise date directly on the portal once it's formally published.

Who Can Apply and How Candidates Are Classified

The decentralized round is open to any candidate who qualified WBJEE 2026 and wants to claim a vacant seat — whether they're registering for the first time in this cycle or already went through earlier centralized rounds. WBJEEB automatically sorts applicants into distinct eligibility categories through the counselling portal, based on domicile and seat type — for instance, West Bengal-domiciled candidates eligible for reserved-category seats form one group, while WB-domiciled candidates eligible for general government-college seats form another, and candidates from outside West Bengal eligible for state universities and private institutions form a third. The exact category assignment is handled by the system based on the candidate's profile, so applicants don't need to self-select a category manually.

Important Clarifications Before You Register

• This won't cost you an existing seat. Registering or participating in decentralized counselling does not cancel any admission you already hold from an earlier round.
• Already registered? You're set. Candidates who registered in a previous phase don't need to register again; fresh registration is only for those who haven't registered before.
• One profile per candidate. Only one valid decentralized counselling profile can be linked to a candidate's examination identity — duplicate registrations don't create any extra entitlement.

How to Register for WBJEE 2026 Decentralized Counselling

1. Visit the official portal, wbjeeb.nic.in.
2. Click on the Decentralized Counselling registration link.
3. Log in using your WBJEE 2026 application credentials.
4. Complete your profile and pay the ₹250 registration fee.
5. Fill and lock your choices of institutes and branches before the deadline.

Payment can be made via net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI. The fee is non-refundable once paid, so candidates should save the payment receipt for their records. Choices can only be added, withdrawn or modified while the counselling phase's "Active Window" is open — once it closes, entries lock automatically.

Documents to Keep Ready

• WBJEE 2026 admit card and scorecard
• Class 10 admit card or birth certificate, for date-of-birth verification
• Class 12 marksheet and certificate
• Valid photo ID proof
• Category certificate, if applicable
• Any domicile-related documents relevant to your candidate category

Candidates should keep both digital and physical copies ready, since document verification on September 24–25 will be conducted physically at the allotted institute.

What Happens After Choices Are Locked

Once the registration window closes tomorrow, WBJEEB processes the locked choices and allots seats based on merit rank, category and preference order. Allotted candidates then report for physical document verification and admission confirmation at their allotted institute, scheduled for September 24 (10 AM) through September 25 (6 PM). Missing this window without a valid reason typically means forfeiting the allotted seat, so candidates should plan travel and document collection well ahead of the verification dates.

Why This Round Matters

With 36,491 seats on the table — more than three-quarters of them in Engineering, Technology and Architecture — this is a substantial opportunity, not a token mop-up round. For candidates who didn't secure a seat in the centralized rounds, or who want to try upgrading to a different institute or branch, this is one of the more meaningful remaining chances this admission cycle.
