The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has commenced the online registration for the VIT Master's Entrance Examination (VITMEE) 2026 for admission to M.Tech and MCA programs. The application portal is live, and aspirants can apply until April 12, 2026. The Computer-Based Test (CBT) will be conducted on April 28 and May 3, 2026, for seats across VIT Vellore, Chennai, AP, and Bhopal campuses.

The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has officially opened its admission gateway for postgraduate aspirants with the release of the VITMEE 2026 application form. The entrance examination is the mandatory qualifying step for admission to a wide array of M.Tech (Master of Technology) and MCA (Master of Computer Applications) programs offered across its four campuses: Vellore, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh (AP), and Bhopal.

With the registration process already underway, candidates are strongly advised to begin their application early to secure their slot for the Computer-Based Test (CBT), which is scheduled for the last week of April and the first week of May 2026.

The application window is extensive, but candidates should adhere to the key deadlines for the smooth execution of the examination and admission process.

II. Eligibility and Examination Pattern

The VITMEE is a single-window entrance test designed to assess the academic and subject proficiency of PG applicants.

  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • M.Tech: Candidates must hold a B.E./B. Tech. or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA). Final year students are also eligible to apply.
    • MCA: Candidates must have a B.C.A., B.Sc. (Computer Science/IT), or equivalent degree with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks.
    • Academic Record: A consistent academic record of 60% or above in 10th and 12th/Diploma is also required.
  • Examination Pattern (CBT):
    • Mode & Duration: Computer-Based Test (CBT) with a duration of 2 hours.
    • Total Questions: 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), carrying 100 marks.
    • Sections: 80 questions will be from the chosen core technical subject (based on the UG curriculum) and 20 questions will be on English Communication.
    • Marking: There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

III. Application Process and Campus Options

The application process is entirely online, and the selection grants access to programs across four prominent campuses.

  • How to Apply: Candidates must register as a new user on the official VIT admission portal, fill in all personal and academic details, upload the required documents (photo, signature, mark sheets), and pay the non-refundable application fee of ₹1200/- online. Hard copies of the application form are generally not required to be sent.
  • Programs and Campuses: The M.Tech programs cover high-demand specializations like CSE (AI/ML, Data Science, Cyber Security), VLSI Design, and Mechanical Engineering. Successful candidates can apply for admission in:
    1. VIT Vellore
    2. VIT Chennai
    3. VIT-AP University (Amaravati)
    4. VIT Bhopal
  • Slot Booking: Candidates will be required to participate in Slot Booking closer to the exam date to select their preferred test centre, date, and time slot on a first-come, first-served basis.

All eligible postgraduate aspirants should visit the official VIT website, vit.ac.in, to register immediately and download the information brochure detailing the syllabus and admission guidelines before the final deadline on April 12, 2026.
