The VITEEE 2026 registration process is currently active on viteee.vit.ac.in. Candidates can apply for B.Tech programs until March 31, 2026. Explore the newly introduced negative marking system, detailed eligibility criteria, and the step-by-step application guide for the upcoming April entrance exam.

The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has witnessed a steady surge in application submissions for the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2026. Since the portal went live on October 24, 2025, thousands of engineering aspirants have successfully registered for the national-level entrance test. The exam remains the gateway for admission into undergraduate engineering programs across VIT’s campuses in Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, and Amaravati (AP) for the 2026-27 academic year.

While the application window remains open for several more months, educational experts advise candidates to complete their registration early. This ensures ample time to prepare for the revised exam pattern, which for the first time in the university's history, incorporates a negative marking scheme to prioritize academic precision.

Key Timeline and Admission Essentials

The VITEEE 2026 is scheduled as a multi-day Computer-Based Test (CBT). Candidates must adhere to the following confirmed and tentative dates:

  • Online Registration Started: October 24, 2025.
  • Last Date to Apply: March 31, 2026.
  • Slot Booking (OTBS): Expected to open in April 2026.
  • VITEEE 2026 Exam Dates: April 28 to May 3, 2026.
  • Result Declaration: Tentatively scheduled for the second week of May 2026.

The Selection Process:

  1. Online Registration: Candidates must create a profile and pay the application fee.
  2. Slot Booking: Registered candidates select their preferred exam date, time, and center on a first-come, first-served basis.
  3. Entrance Exam: Appear for the 2.5-hour CBT at the chosen center.
  4. Counselling: Rank-based online counselling for branch and campus allocation.

Revised Marking Scheme: Accuracy Over Speed

The most significant update for the 2026 session is the introduction of negative marking. This change aligns VITEEE with other major competitive exams like JEE Main.

Conclusion

The new +4/-1 marking scheme necessitates a shift in preparation strategy, focusing on conceptual clarity rather than blind guessing. For the latest updates on slot booking and official mock tests, candidates should frequently visit the viteee.vit.ac.in portal.
