Students who want to study engineering at one of India’s top private universities have an important update today. The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is currently accepting online forms for its famous entrance exam, the VITEEE 2026. As of today, February 23, the application window is fully open. This exam is the only way for students to get a seat in B.Tech programs at VIT campuses in Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, and Andhra Pradesh (Amaravati).

The university has announced that the main examination will take place over several days. The test window is set from April 28 to May 3, 2026. This gives students the chance to choose a date that works best for them. However, you must first complete your registration on the official VITEEE portal before the final deadline of March 31, 2026. This is a crucial step for anyone hoping to pursue high-quality technical education in India.

Important Dates and Application Details

Applying for the VITEEE 2026 is a simple process, but you must be careful with the dates. If you miss the March 31 deadline, you will not be allowed to sit for the exam. Here is a quick look at the schedule:

Event NameImportant Date
Last Date to ApplyMarch 31, 2026
Slot Booking StartsApril 2026 (Expected)
VITEEE 2026 Exam DatesApril 28 to May 3, 2026
Result Declaration2nd Week of May 2026

The application fee for Indian students is ₹1,350. This fee is non-refundable and must be paid online. You can use net banking, credit cards, or UPI to make the payment. For students living outside India (NRI candidates), the fee is 90 USD.

How to Fill the Application Form

To start your registration, you need a valid email ID and a mobile number. The VIT admission team suggests following these simple steps:

  1. Sign Up: Visit the official website and register as a new user. You will get a password on your email.
  2. Fill Details: Log in and enter your personal information, like your name and address.
  3. Education Info: Enter your Class 12 marks or school details. If you are still in school, select the "Appearing" option.
  4. Upload Photos: You need a clear passport-size photo and a signature. Make sure the files are small enough to upload easily.
  5. Pay Fee: Complete the process by paying the fee online.

After you submit the form, you will get an application number. Keep this number safe! You will need it in April to book your exam slot. Slot booking is "first-come, first-served," which means if you book early, you can choose the exam center closest to your house.

New Exam Pattern and Preparation Tips

The VITEEE 2026 is a computer-based test that lasts for 2 hours and 30 minutes. A big change this year is the marking scheme. For every correct answer, you get +4 marks, but for every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted. This is called negative marking. The paper has 125 multiple-choice questions in total. It includes Physics (35 questions), Chemistry (35 questions), Mathematics or Biology (40 questions), Aptitude (10 questions), and English (5 questions).

Because of the negative marking, you should only answer questions you are sure about. To prepare well, students should focus on their NCERT textbooks for Physics, Chemistry, and Math. Practicing old question papers will also help you get faster at solving problems and avoiding mistakes.

Conclusion: Act Now for a Bright Future

In conclusion, the VITEEE 2026 is a gateway to a great career in engineering. Today, February 23, is the perfect time to finish your application because the website will get very busy as March 31 approaches. By finishing your form now, you can spend all your time studying for your board exams and the entrance test.

  • Check Eligibility: Ensure you were born on or after July 1, 2004, to be eligible.
  • Stay Updated: Regularly visit the official website for news about the result and counseling.
  • Keep Records: Always download a copy of your finished form for future use.
