The UPTAC Round 2 B.Tech seat allotment result for JEE Main candidates will be released today. This article explains the freeze/float options, fee payment schedule, and next steps for aspirants.

In a crucial development for engineering aspirants in Uttar Pradesh, the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) is set to release the Round 2 B.Tech seat allotment results today, August 5, 2025. This declaration is a pivotal moment for thousands of candidates who have been anxiously awaiting their allotment status after the choice-filling and locking process for this round concluded on August 3. The results will be made available on the official UPTAC website, uptac.admissions.nic.in, and will determine the next steps for candidates in their quest for a seat in one of the state's engineering institutions.

The UPTAC counselling process, based on JEE Main scores, is a multi-round procedure designed to fill all available seats across various government and private engineering colleges affiliated with AKTU. The Round 2 allotment result is particularly significant as it provides a second opportunity for candidates who were not allotted a seat in Round 1 or those who chose to "float" their allotted seats in the hope of securing a better preference. The seats available for this round comprise those that remained vacant after the Round 1 allotment and those released by candidates who withdrew their admissions.

Key Actions After Result Declaration

Once the Round 2 allotment result is declared, candidates must log in to their accounts using their JEE Main application number and password. They will be presented with their allotment status, which includes the name of the college and the branch they have been provisionally allotted. Following this, aspirants will have to exercise one of two options:

  • Freeze: A candidate who chooses to "freeze" accepts the allotted seat and does not wish to participate in any subsequent rounds of counselling. By choosing this option, the candidate is confirming their admission to the allotted institution. After freezing, the candidate must pay the seat confirmation fee and proceed with the document verification and physical reporting process.
  • Float: A candidate who chooses to "float" also accepts the allotted seat but wishes to be considered for a higher preference in the next round of counselling. The candidate will retain the current seat and can participate in future rounds for a potential upgrade. They must still pay the seat confirmation fee to keep their current seat and remain eligible for further rounds.

It is critical to note that failing to exercise either the "freeze" or "float" option and not paying the seat confirmation fee within the stipulated timeframe will result in the forfeiture of the allotted seat. Such candidates will not be considered for any further regular rounds of counselling.

Financial and Procedural Details

The seat confirmation fee remains the same as in Round 1: ₹20,000 for General and OBC candidates and ₹12,000 for SC and ST candidates. This fee is a crucial part of the process, and failure to pay it will lead to the cancellation of the provisional allotment. The payment window for this fee, along with the option to freeze or float, is from August 5 to August 7, 2025.

Following this, candidates who have frozen their seats will have to physically report to their respective colleges for document verification and final admission formalities. The specific dates for physical reporting will be announced in the detailed schedule for the upcoming rounds. Candidates are advised to keep all their original documents, including mark sheets, category certificates, and the allotment letter, ready for this process.

The UPTAC counselling will continue with more rounds, including an internal sliding round and subsequent special rounds to ensure all seats are filled. The next major event in the schedule will be the choice locking for Round 3, which begins on August 8. The UPTAC team has emphasized the importance of staying updated on the official website for all news and announcements to avoid missing any crucial deadlines. The declaration of the Round 2 result today is a significant moment, providing clarity to thousands of students and setting the stage for the final stages of the admission process.
