Today, August 8, 2025, marks the beginning of the final window for candidates to lock their choices for UPTAC 2025 Round 3 counselling. According to the official schedule published by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), the online choice locking period for this round is from August 8 to August 9, 2025. This is a critical period for all aspirants who have registered for counselling, as the choices submitted now will be considered final not only for Round 3 but also for all subsequent rounds, including the internal sliding round.

The UPTAC counselling process for B.Tech admission, which is based on JEE Main scores, is in its third stage. This round is particularly important for candidates who have been allotted a seat in previous rounds but chose to 'Float' their options, as well as for new candidates entering the process. Unlike the previous rounds where candidates could alter their choices, Round 3 is the last opportunity to make any changes.

Key Dates and the Road Ahead

The timeline for Round 3 is strict, and candidates must adhere to it to secure their desired seats. The key dates are as follows:

  • Online Choice Locking: The final window to lock choices is August 8 to August 9, 2025. Candidates who fail to explicitly lock their choices will have their last saved choices automatically locked by the system.
  • Seat Allotment Result: The seat allotment result for Round 3 will be published on August 11, 2025.
  • Payment of Seat Confirmation Fee: Candidates who are allotted a seat must pay the seat confirmation fee (₹20,000 for General/OBC and ₹12,000 for SC/ST) from August 11 to August 12, 2025.
  • Online Willingness (Freeze/Float): During the same period from August 11 to August 12, 2025, candidates must choose between the 'Freeze' or 'Float' options. Those who are satisfied with their seat can 'Freeze' it and confirm their admission, while those who wish for an upgrade can 'Float' and be considered for later rounds.

The Importance of Choice Locking

For many candidates, this is the last chance to refine their preferences for colleges and branches. It is highly recommended that aspirants carefully consider the order of their choices. Candidates who have already participated in Round 1 and 2 but have not been allotted a seat will have their previous choices automatically carried forward. However, they are given this final opportunity to edit their preferences. Aspirants are advised to fill in as many choices as possible to increase their chances of securing a seat.

Candidates who do not wish to participate in the counselling process anymore can also opt for online withdrawal during the designated period from August 11 to August 12, 2025. With the final choice locking period underway, candidates are urged to log in to the official portal, uptac.admissions.nic.in, and complete the process without any delay to ensure their preferences are duly considered for seat allotment.
