Today, August 7, 2025, is a critical deadline for engineering aspirants in Uttar Pradesh who have been allotted a seat in the second round of UPTAC 2025 counselling. The final day for the payment of the seat confirmation fee for new allotments in Round 2 concludes this evening, along with the option to choose "Freeze," "Float," or "Withdraw" the allotted seat.

The Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) released the UPTAC Round 2 seat allotment results for B.Tech and B.Arch programs on August 5, providing candidates a limited window to secure their seats. Failure to pay the prescribed fee by the deadline will lead to the automatic cancellation of the allotted seat, and the candidate will be excluded from all subsequent counselling rounds.

Key Deadlines for UPTAC Round 2

Candidates who received their first-time seat allotment in Round 2 must complete the following actions today:

  • Payment of Seat Confirmation Fee: The mandatory fee must be paid online to accept the seat. The fee is ₹20,000 for General and OBC categories and ₹12,000 for SC and ST categories.
  • Online Willingness Submission: After paying the fee, candidates must choose their willingness—either "Freeze" or "Float."
    • Freeze: This option confirms the candidate's satisfaction with the allotted seat and their decision not to participate in further rounds for an upgrade.
    • Float: This option allows the candidate to accept the current seat while remaining in the running for a better-preferred choice in the subsequent rounds.
  • Online Withdrawal: The window for online withdrawal from counselling for Round 2 also concludes today. Candidates who wish to withdraw their application must do so by the deadline to be eligible for a refund of their paid fees.

Next Steps After the Round 2 Deadline

For candidates who have successfully paid the seat confirmation fee and submitted their willingness, the counselling process continues with the following events:

  • Choice Locking for Round 3: Starting on August 8, candidates who have chosen "Float" will have a final opportunity to lock their choices for Round 3. This is a crucial step, as these choices will also be considered for internal sliding rounds.
  • Seat Allotment for Round 3: The provisional seat allotment for Round 3 is scheduled to be released on August 11.
  • Physical Reporting: All candidates who "Freeze" their seat in any of the rounds (or those who are auto-frozen in Round 4) will be required to physically report to their allotted institution between August 18 and August 21, 2025. This step is mandatory for final admission and involves document verification and fee payment. Failure to report will result in the cancellation of the seat without any refund.

Aspirants are strongly advised to complete all necessary steps on the official UPTAC portal today to avoid losing their allotted seat. Given the fast-paced nature of the counselling process, staying updated with official notifications from AKTU is paramount to a successful admission.
