The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is currently in its final admission phase for B.Tech programs for the academic year 2025-26. The university accepts applicants through its own entrance test, the UPESEAT, as well as through scores from other national-level exams. With the last date to apply for various programs nearing, it is essential for engineering aspirants to understand the UPESEAT cutoff and the different admission pathways.

Multiple Admission Pathways to UPES

UPES offers multiple routes for admission to its B.Tech programs, giving aspirants flexibility based on their exam performance.

  1. UPESEAT Pathway: The primary mode of admission is through the UPESEAT 2025 entrance exam. Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria of a minimum of 50% marks in Class X and XII, with a minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in Class XII.
  2. JEE Main Pathway: Aspirants with strong performance in the JEE Main 2025 exam can apply directly. UPES has a separate cutoff for JEE Main applicants, who are exempted from the UPESEAT exam and can directly participate in the counselling process.
  3. Board Merit Pathway: Candidates who have scored 80% or above in both Class X and Class XII, with an 80% aggregate in PCM in Class XII, can also be considered for direct admission.
  4. SAT/CUET Pathway: The university also considers admission through SAT and CUET scores.

Important Dates and Next Steps

The last date to apply for UPESEAT 2025 and other admission pathways for undergraduate courses is August 31, 2025.

  • Application: Candidates must fill out the online application form on the official UPES website, upes.ac.in, and pay the application fee of ₹1,750.
  • Result & Merit List: After the final exam phase, a merit list is prepared based on the scores of all eligible candidates.
  • Counselling and Seat Allotment: Qualified candidates are then invited to participate in the counselling sessions for seat allotment based on their rank and course preferences.
  • Document Verification: All candidates must complete the document verification process to finalize their admission.
