Maharashtra's NEET PG Round 3 counselling is delayed, causing uncertainty among students.

Maharashtra's NEET PG aspirants are facing significant uncertainty due to the postponement of the Round 3 counselling process. Originally scheduled for February 6, the selection list has been delayed as the state awaits an updated list of in-service candidates. This delay has prompted 75 aspirants to approach the Supreme Court, seeking a fair chance at postgraduate medical admissions.

Confusion Amidst Delays

  • MCC's Directive: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has directed all state counselling authorities to submit data on candidates who have joined postgraduate medical colleges in all three admission rounds by February 11. This measure aims to filter out candidates already holding seats before initiating the All India Quota (AIQ) stray vacancy round.
  • Eligibility Criteria Changes: On February 12, the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell revised eligibility criteria, stating that candidates who did not join their MCC Round 3 allotted seats are ineligible for the AIQ stray vacancy round. However, those who "did not report" for MCC Round 3 can still participate in state counselling.

Impact on Aspirants

  • Uncertainty and Anxiety: The prolonged delay has left students and parents anxious about securing admissions. Many are caught in a dilemma, unable to make definitive decisions regarding their future.
  • Supreme Court Petition: In response to the ongoing uncertainty, 75 aspirants have approached the Supreme Court, seeking intervention to ensure a fair and transparent counselling process.

Conclusion

The delay in Maharashtra's NEET PG Round 3 counselling has created a state of uncertainty for aspiring medical professionals. Immediate action is required to resolve the issues and provide clarity to the affected candidates.
