UID Ahmedabad Opens Lateral Entry Admissions; Chance to Join B.Des Second Year
Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID) is accepting lateral entry applications for its B.Des program. Students who have completed their first year can apply by submitting their portfolio and transcripts.

The Unitedworld Institute of Design (UID), a constituent college of Karnavati University, has announced that its lateral entry admissions for the 2025-26 academic batch are now open. This is a significant opportunity for design students who have completed their first year at another recognized university and wish to transfer directly into the second year of a B. Design (Hons.) program at UID.
The institute has opened a limited number of seats across its various specializations for this unique admission category. The process is designed for students who want to continue their design education at UID and benefit from its state-of-the-art facilities and globally benchmarked curriculum.
Eligibility and Application Process:
The lateral entry admission is not a standard application process and has specific requirements. Interested candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Successful completion of their first and second semesters of a B. Design (Hons.) or an equivalent program from a recognized university.
- A minimum aggregate score of 50% in the last qualifying examination (Class 12).
The application process is thorough and requires a meticulous submission of documents. Candidates must download the official lateral entry application form from the university’s website. Along with the form, they are required to submit:
- A digital portfolio of their work.
- Copies of their 1st and 2nd-semester mark statements.
- A copy of academic transcripts.
- A No Objection Certificate (NOC) or Migration Certificate from their current university.
- Payment of a non-refundable application fee of ₹2,000.
The selection will be made based on a comprehensive evaluation of the candidate's digital portfolio and their academic performance at their previous institution. The university's evaluation committee will also consider the equivalence of the program pursued by the student.
Next Steps and Deadline:
Candidates who are successfully selected for admission will be notified in due course and must act promptly. They will be required to submit their original documents and pay a one-time transfer fee of ₹25,000, along with the third-semester fee, to secure their seat.
Since the application window is now open for the 2025-26 batch, aspirants are strongly advised to apply as soon as possible. As the number of seats is limited, admissions will be on a "choice-cum-merit" basis. For the latest updates and to download the application form, candidates must visit the official UID Ahmedabad website at uid.edu.in.
