A pivotal moment for medical aspirants across the nation has arrived as the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), has officially released the comprehensive NEET UG 2025 counselling schedule for MBBS and BDS admission. With Round 1 registration set to commence on July 21, 2025, qualified candidates from NEET UG 2025 are urged to meticulously review the timeline and prepare all required documents. This crucial schedule outlines the process for All India Quota (AIQ) seats, as well as those in Deemed and Central Universities, AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC, and AFMS institutions, shaping the academic future of thousands aspiring to join top medical colleges.

The release of the schedule comes amidst intense anticipation, following the NEET UG 2025 results declared last month. Medical aspirants are advised to visit the official MCC website, mcc.nic.in, for all updates and to participate in the counselling process.

NEET UG Counselling 2025: Key Dates for Round 1

The MCC has provided a clear roadmap for Round 1 of NEET UG 2025 counselling, demanding prompt action from medical aspirants. Missing any deadline could impact admission chances.

Seat Matrix Verification (Ongoing): The verification of the tentative seat matrix by participating institutes and the National Medical Commission (NMC) is currently underway, spanning July 18 to July 19, 2025. This crucial preliminary step ensures accuracy in seat allocation.

Registration & Payment: Medical aspirants must register and make the necessary payment between July 21 and July 28, 2025. The payment facility will be available until 3:00 PM on July 28. This is the first mandatory step for all qualified candidates wishing to participate in the counselling.

  • Choice Filling & Locking: The window for choice filling will open on July 22, 2025, and close on July 28, 2025, at 11:55 PM. Candidates will have the option to lock their choices from 4:00 PM to 11:55 PM on July 28. Carefully selecting and prioritizing medical colleges and courses is paramount for successful seat allotment.
  • Seat Allotment Processing: The MCC will process the seat allotment from July 29 to July 30, 2025, based on NEET UG ranks, choices filled, and reservation policies.
  • Result Announcement: The much-awaited Round 1 seat allotment results will be declared on July 31, 2025. Medical aspirants must check their results promptly on the official website.
  • Reporting to Allotted College: Qualified candidates who are allotted seats in Round 1 must report to their respective institutions for admission formalities and document verification from August 1 to August 6, 2025. This is a mandatory step to confirm the allotted seat.
  • Institute Data Verification: Following the reporting period, the MCC and participating institutes will verify the data of joined candidates on August 7 and August 8, 2025.

Subsequent counselling rounds (Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round) will follow, with separate schedules to be announced by the MCC.

Eligibility, Scope, and Essential Documents for Medical Aspirants

Understanding the eligibility criteria and preparing the necessary documents are fundamental requirements for seamless participation in the NEET UG 2025 counselling process.

Eligibility Criteria: Only candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2025 by securing the minimum qualifying percentile are eligible to participate in the MCC counselling. Additionally, they must meet the age and academic criteria as stipulated in the NEET UG 2025 information bulletin.

Scope of MCC Counselling: The MCC conducts counselling for the following categories of medical seats:

  • 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in all Government medical and dental colleges (except Jammu & Kashmir, unless they opt to contribute).
  • 100% seats in Central Universities (like BHU, AMU), Deemed Universities, AIIMS, and JIPMER across India.
  • 85% State Quota seats of Delhi University (DU) and IP University (VMMC, ABVIMS, ESIC Dental).
  • 100% seats in Faculty of Dentistry (Jamia Millia Islamia), including a 5% internal quota for Jamia students.
  • 15% Insured Persons (IP) Quota seats of ESIC medical colleges.

Documents Required: Medical aspirants must keep the following documents ready for registration, document verification, and admission:

  • NEET UG 2025 Admit Card
  • NEET UG 2025 Scorecard/Rank Letter
  • Class 10th Mark Sheet and Certificate
  • Class 12th Mark Sheet and Certificate
  • Proof of Date of Birth (usually Class 10 certificate)
  • Valid Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar Card, Passport, Driving License, PAN Card, Voter ID)
  • Passport-size photographs (matching the ones uploaded in NEET UG application)
  • Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) (if applicable)
  • EWS Certificate (if applicable)
  • Disability Certificate (PwD) (if applicable)
  • Domicile Certificate (for state quota counselling, if applicable)
  • Provisional Allotment Letter (to be downloaded after seat allotment)
  • Proof of fee payment for counselling and admission.

It is crucial to have both original documents and self-attested photocopies during reporting to the allotted institution.

Beyond AIQ: State Counselling & AYUSH Admissions

While MCC handles the All India Quota, medical aspirants should also stay informed about state-level counselling and other medical admission pathways.

  • State Quota Counselling: The remaining 85% of MBBS and BDS seats in Government medical colleges in each state, along with private medical and dental colleges, are filled through state-level counselling conducted by their respective authorities. Many states, like Karnataka and Assam, have already begun releasing their preliminary schedules for registration and document verification. Medical aspirants applying under state quota must regularly check their respective state's official counselling website.
  • AYUSH Admissions (BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS): For admission to Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) courses, the AYUSH Admissions Central Counseling Committee (AACCC) (aaccc.gov.in) conducts the counselling. While the detailed schedule for AYUSH counselling is typically released after the initial rounds of MCC NEET UG counselling, medical aspirants interested in these fields should monitor the AACCC website for updates. Recently, the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) revised BAMS eligibility, removing the 50% Class 12 PCB marks rule, making it more accessible, though NEET UG remains mandatory.
  • Preparation for Next Steps: Medical aspirants are advised to use the time before registration commences to finalize their list of preferred colleges and courses, considering their NEET UG rank, reservation category, and admission chances. Preparing for document verification by having all necessary certificates organized is also crucial.
