The Maharashtra State CET Cell has announced the schedules for CAP rounds for MBA, Law, and Engineering. This article provides a comprehensive look at the key dates and next steps for aspirants.

The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has published the official schedules for the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) rounds for the academic year 2025-26. This announcement is a crucial and timely update for a vast number of aspirants who appeared for the MH CET exams for admission into professional degree courses in MBA/MMS, 3-year and 5-year LLB, and Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) across Maharashtra. The multi-round, online CAP process is the sole gateway for admissions to a majority of colleges in the state, making adherence to these timelines an absolute necessity for all eligible candidates.

The CAP process is designed to ensure a transparent and merit-based seat allotment by matching candidates’ preferences with their scores and available seats in various colleges. Each round consists of a series of steps, including the publication of vacant seats, online option form submission, provisional seat allotment, and a final window for seat acceptance and reporting to the respective institutions.

Maharashtra MBA/MMS CAP Rounds 2025

For MBA and MMS aspirants, the focus is now on the conclusion of Round 1 and the preparation for Round 2. The State CET Cell has been swift in its process, and candidates must act quickly to secure their admissions.

  • CAP Round 1: The provisional seat allotment for Round 1 was released on August 1, 2025. Today, August 2, marks a critical deadline. Candidates who have been allotted a seat must either "Freeze" it (accepting it as their final choice), "Float" it (accepting the seat but hoping for a higher preference in a subsequent round), or "Slide" it (accepting the seat but hoping for a higher preference within the same college). The final step for all candidates who accept their seat is to report to the allotted institute to confirm their admission and pay the required fees. This must be completed by the end of the day, August 3, 2025.
  • CAP Round 2: The schedule for the next round is already in motion. The display of vacant seats for CAP Round 2 will be released on August 4, 2025. Following this, the online submission and confirmation of the option form for Round 2 will be open from August 5 to August 7, 2025. Aspirants who did not get a seat in Round 1 or are looking for an upgrade to a better college must participate in this round. The provisional allotment for this round will be displayed on August 11, 2025.

Maharashtra Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) CAP Rounds 2025

The MHT CET Engineering CAP rounds follow a similar, structured pattern. The first round's crucial deadlines are also upon us, with the schedule for the next round being announced.

  • CAP Round 1: The provisional seat allotment for engineering was released on July 31, 2025. Similar to the MBA process, candidates must accept their allotted seats and complete the document verification and admission confirmation process at the respective institutes. The final deadline for reporting to the allotted institute for CAP Round 1 is August 3, 2025, up to 5:00 PM. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of the seat and may impact eligibility for future rounds.
  • CAP Round 2: The list of vacant seats after the conclusion of Round 1 will be displayed on the website on August 4, 2025. The online submission and confirmation of the option form for Round 2 will take place from August 5 to August 7, 2025. The provisional allotment for CAP Round 2 is scheduled to be announced on August 11, 2025.

Maharashtra Law CAP Rounds 2025

The counselling for both the 3-year and 5-year LLB programs is also in full swing, with today being a particularly significant day for 3-year LLB aspirants.

  • 3-Year LLB: The final merit list for Round 1 for the 3-year LLB program is set to be published today, August 2, 2025, after 5:00 PM. This is a crucial step that will determine which candidates are eligible for the next phase of the counselling process.
  • 5-Year LLB: For the 5-year LLB program, the final merit list for Round 1 was released on July 30, 2025. The option form filling window for Rounds 1 and 2 is currently open and will close on August 3, 2025. The provisional seat allotment for Round 1 is then scheduled to be released on August 6, 2025.
  • Future Rounds: Candidates who have not yet registered or were not allotted seats in the first rounds for either the 3-year or 5-year LLB program will have a new registration window open from August 3 for the third and institutional level rounds.

Essential Information for All Aspirants

The Centralised Admission Process is entirely conducted online. Aspirants must regularly check the official website, cetcell.mahacet.org, and its sub-portals for program-specific updates. It is critical to have all necessary documents ready, including mark sheets, caste certificates, domicile certificates, and the provisional seat allotment letter, to ensure a smooth admission process at the allotted college. With the various deadlines fast approaching, a proactive and organized approach is essential for all aspirants to successfully secure their professional degree seats in Maharashtra's colleges for the academic year 2025-26.
