Engineering aspirants, the JoSAA 2025 Round 5 seat allotment results are OUT! Candidates must complete online reporting, including seat acceptance, document upload, and fee payment, by July 14, 2025. This is the final round for 'Float'/'Slide' options. Secure your IIT, NIT, IIIT, or GFTI seat for Higher Education.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has announced the Round 5 seat allotment results for JoSAA 2025 Counselling, marking a pivotal moment for thousands of engineering aspirants aiming for admission into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). The results were declared yesterday, July 11, 2025, and candidates can now check their allotment status by logging into the official JoSAA website, josaa.nic.in, using their JEE Main 2025 credentials.

This is a critical phase, as Round 5 is the last opportunity for candidates to exercise the 'Float' and 'Slide' options. From Round 6 onwards (which is the final round for IITs), only the 'Freeze' option will be available. Therefore, students who have been allotted a seat in Round 5, or whose seat status has changed, must promptly complete the online reporting process.

Immediate Actions Required for Allotted Candidates:

Upon checking their seat allotment status, candidates who have been provisionally allotted a seat in Round 5 must undertake the following mandatory steps:

Accept Seat: Candidates must explicitly accept the allotted seat online.

Select Willingness (Freeze/Float/Slide):

  • Freeze: If a candidate is completely satisfied with the allotted seat and does not wish to be considered for any further upgrades in subsequent rounds.
  • Float: If a candidate accepts the allotted seat but wishes to be considered for a higher preference choice across any institute in the next rounds.
  • Slide: If a candidate accepts the allotted seat but wishes to be considered for a better branch within the same institute in the next rounds.

Important Note: As mentioned, Round 5 is the last opportunity for 'Float' and 'Slide' options. Candidates must choose wisely based on their preferences and desire for an upgrade.

Upload Documents: All necessary documents must be uploaded online in the specified format. This typically includes:

  • JEE Main/Advanced Admit Card
  • JEE Main/Advanced Scorecard
  • Class 10th Mark Sheet/Birth Certificate
  • Class 12th (or equivalent) Mark Sheet
  • Category Certificate (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS, PwD, if applicable), ensuring it is in the format prescribed by JoSAA and valid for the current academic year.
  • Medical Certificate (for PwD candidates)
  • Proof of Place of Birth
  • Passport/OCI/PIO card (for foreign nationals/OCI/PIO candidates)
  • Seat Allotment Letter
  • Undertaking by the candidate

Any other document specifically requested by JoSAA or the allotted institute. Any discrepancies or queries raised by the verifying officers must be responded to promptly within the given timeframe. Failure to do so can lead to the cancellation of the provisional allotment.

Pay Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF): Candidates must pay the prescribed Seat Acceptance Fee online. This fee is non-refundable in most cases if the candidate later withdraws or does not complete the admission process. The fee varies based on the candidate's category. This payment is crucial for confirming the provisional seat and proceeding in the counselling process.

The deadline for completing all these online reporting steps, including fee payment and document upload, is July 14, 2025. Candidates are strongly advised not to wait until the last moment to avoid technical glitches or server issues.

What Happens Next?

Following Round 5, JoSAA 2025 counselling will proceed to Round 6.

Round 6 Seat Allotment (Final Round for IITs): The result for Round 6 will be declared on July 16, 2025. Candidates allotted seats in this round must also complete their online reporting, including seat acceptance, document upload, and fee payment. The deadline for this is July 20, 2025. This will be the final opportunity to confirm admission for IITs.

Withdrawal/Exit Option: Candidates wishing to withdraw from the JoSAA counselling process for IIT admission can do so until July 14, 2025. For NIT+/IIIT/GFTI admissions, the withdrawal option might extend longer, typically until July 21, 2025. A processing charge is deducted from the refunded seat acceptance fee upon valid withdrawal.

Aspirants are advised to regularly visit the official JoSAA website josaa.nic.in for the latest updates, detailed schedules, and important announcements. This entire process is highly time-bound, and missing any deadline can lead to forfeiture of the allocated seat and exclusion from further rounds of counselling. Engineering dreams hinge on diligent adherence to these procedures, ensuring a smooth transition into their desired Higher Education institutions.
