In a major policy reform aimed at attracting more local talent and easing the burden on medical graduates, the Chhattisgarh government has introduced significant changes to its medical education admission rules for the 2025-26 academic session. The new guidelines, which are now being implemented during the ongoing NEET UG counselling, include a reduction in the mandatory bond service period and a new policy prioritizing state domicile candidates.

These reforms are part of the recently notified "Chhattisgarh Medical, Dental and Physiotherapy Undergraduate Admission Rules 2025" and are designed to enhance transparency and streamline the admission process. The key changes are expected to have a direct and positive impact on thousands of students aspiring for a medical career in the state.

Lower Bond Tenure and Priority for State Candidates:

  • Reduced Bond Period: The mandatory bond service requirement for doctors who have completed their MBBS from government colleges in the state has been halved. The service period, which was previously two years, has been reduced to a minimum of one year, providing significant relief to new graduates and simplifying their post-graduation plans.
  • Domicile Priority: In a move to ensure that local students are not disadvantaged, the government has announced that any vacant seats in the Management and NRI quotas of private medical colleges will now be filled by eligible candidates with a Chhattisgarh domicile. This new rule expands the opportunities available to students from the state for private college seats.

In addition to these core changes, the government has also shifted the entire counselling process to an online-only format, from registration to seat allotment, to improve transparency. The rules have also been simplified for OBC candidates regarding income certificate norms.

The first round of Chhattisgarh NEET UG counselling is currently underway, and aspirants are encouraged to review the revised rules carefully on the official DME website, cgdme.in, to make informed decisions while filling their choices.
