The provisional merit list for NEET UG 2025 is out, but the crucial deadline for category corrections is tomorrow, July 11, 2025. Act now! The final merit list and detailed MBBS/BDS counselling schedule from DME Assam are highly anticipated for your Higher Education journey.

A significant phase in the Assam NEET UG 2025 Counselling process is currently underway for thousands of medical and dental aspirants in the state. Following the release of the provisional merit list by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME Assam) on July 7, 2025, candidates now have a critical, narrow window to address any discrepancies, particularly concerning their category status. The absolute final deadline for submitting category corrections in person is tomorrow, July 11, 2025. This makes today, July 10, the last full working day for aspirants to ensure their details are accurate before the final merit list is compiled.

The provisional merit list, comprising over 19,809 candidates, serves as a preliminary ranking of qualified NEET UG 2025 aspirants based on their performance and initial application data. However, it is imperative for every candidate to meticulously review their entry on this list to verify personal details, NEET UG scores, and critically, their declared category. Any error in the category could significantly impact their chances of seat allotment under the correct reservation.

Urgent Action Required: Category Correction by July 11:

For any medical aspirant who believes there is an error in their listed category, or who wishes to officially change their category, immediate action is paramount. The DME Assam has stipulated a strict procedure for this:

In-Person Submission: All requests for category changes or corrections must be submitted physically. Applications sent via post or email will not be accepted.

Location: Candidates must visit the DME Assam office, specifically on the Second Floor, Room Number 5, during official working hours.

Required Documents: Aspirants must carry a duly filled application form for category correction, along with all requisite supporting documents that substantiate their claim for the new or corrected category. For instance, a valid caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC), PwD certificate, or EWS certificate.

Failing to submit these corrections by the July 11, 2025, deadline will mean that candidates will be considered under their initially declared category, regardless of any inaccuracies. This could potentially lead to loss of rightful reservation benefits or even disqualification if crucial information is incorrect.

Anticipating the Final Merit List and Counselling Schedule:

Upon the conclusion of the category correction window tomorrow, DME Assam will undertake the task of incorporating all valid claims and objections. This will then pave the way for the publication of the Final Merit List for Assam NEET 2025. While a specific date for this final list has not yet been announced, DME Assam has indicated it will be released "in due course of time" on their official website (dme.assam.gov.in). This final list will be the definitive ranking based on which MBBS and BDS seats will be allotted.

Following the release of the final merit list, the complete schedule for the Assam NEET UG Counselling 2025 will be unveiled. Based on past trends and alignment with the MCC NEET UG Counselling calendar, the key upcoming stages are tentatively expected in August 2025:

  • Online Registration for Counselling (Round 1): Candidates from the final merit list will need to register online for participation in the counselling rounds. This step usually involves paying a non-refundable counselling fee (typically ₹1,000 for all categories) and a refundable security deposit (often ₹10,000 for government colleges only, or ₹1,00,000 for those opting for private or both government and private colleges).
  • Choice Filling and Locking: Aspirants will then be required to fill in their preferences for medical and dental colleges and courses in order of priority. Strategic choice filling, based on their state rank and previous year’s cutoffs, will be crucial. These choices must be locked before the deadline.
  • Seat Allotment Result: The Round 1 seat allotment result will be published, indicating the provisional seat allocated to candidates.
  • Document Verification and Reporting to Allotted College: Candidates who secure a seat in Round 1 will need to report physically to their allotted institution within the stipulated timeframe. This stage involves the crucial document verification process where original documents are checked against the submitted information, followed by the payment of admission fees to confirm the seat.

Important Documents for Reporting:

Candidates must ensure they have all necessary documents prepared and ready in original, along with multiple sets of photocopies:

  1. NEET UG 2025 Admit Card and Scorecard
  2. Provisional Allotment Letter (after seat allotment)
  3. Class 10th & 12th Mark Sheets and Certificates
  4. Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) of Assam
  5. Caste Certificate (if applicable, in the prescribed format)
  6. EWS/PwD Certificate (if applicable)
  7. Transfer Certificate (TC)
  8. Migration Certificate
  9. Character Certificate
  10. Passport-size photographs (matching NEET application)
  11. Valid Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar, Passport, etc.)

Medical aspirants in Assam are strongly advised to remain vigilant and regularly check the official DME Assam website (dme.assam.gov.in) for timely notifications and the definitive counselling schedule. Missing the category correction deadline tomorrow or any subsequent counselling deadlines could jeopardize their prospects for Higher Education in medicine.
