For thousands of medical and dental aspirants in Assam, today, July 11, 2025, marks a critical juncture in the Assam NEET UG 2025 Counselling process. It is the absolute final deadline for candidates to submit any requests for category changes or corrections in person at the Directorate of Medical Education (DME Assam) office. Aspirants who appeared on the provisional merit list, released on July 7, 2025, and identified any discrepancies, particularly concerning their reserved category status, must act immediately to ensure their details are accurately reflected before the compilation of the definitive Final Merit List.

The provisional merit list, comprising over 19,809 candidates, served as an initial compilation of qualified NEET UG 2025 candidates in the state. However, it is the Final Merit List that will serve as the official and binding document for all subsequent seat allotment procedures for MBBS and BDS courses in Assam's medical and dental colleges. Any error in a candidate's category on this final list could lead to significant issues, including the loss of rightful reservation benefits or even disqualification.

Last Call for Category Corrections – A Detailed Reminder:

The DME Assam has maintained a strict stance on the mode and deadline for category corrections. Today is the last day to ensure your application reflects the correct category.

In-Person Submission ONLY: It is crucial for candidates to understand that requests for category changes or corrections will not be accepted via post or email. All such requests, along with the required supporting documents, must be physically submitted at the DME Assam office.

Location for Submission: Candidates should proceed to the Second Floor, Room Number 5, at the DME Assam office during official working hours today.

Essential Documents: When submitting a correction, aspirants must carry a duly filled application form for the category change. This must be accompanied by all original and self-attested copies of supporting documents that validate the claim for the new or corrected category. This includes valid caste certificates (SC/ST/OBC), Non-Creamy Layer certificates (for OBC), EWS certificates, or PwD certificates, as applicable, all in the prescribed format.

Aspirants who fail to submit their category corrections by the end of today, July 11, 2025, will be considered under the category initially declared in their application. This means any inaccuracies or missed opportunities for valid reservation claims will be permanent for this counselling cycle.

Anticipating the Final Merit List and Counselling Schedule:

Upon the strict conclusion of the category correction window today, DME Assam will meticulously review and incorporate all valid submissions. This process is a prerequisite for the official publication of the Final Merit List for Assam NEET 2025. While a precise release date for this final list has not yet been announced, DME Assam has assured that it will be released "in due course of time" on their official website (dme.assam.gov.in). This final list will be the ultimate determinant of a candidate's eligibility and ranking for MBBS and BDS admissions.

Following the release of the final merit list, the comprehensive schedule for the Assam NEET UG Counselling 2025 will be unveiled. Based on past patterns and the broader national NEET UG counselling timeline, the subsequent stages for MBBS and BDS seat allotment are tentatively anticipated to unfold from the 3rd week of July 2025 onwards, extending into August. These stages typically include:

  1. Online Registration for Counselling: Candidates from the final merit list will need to complete an online registration for participating in the counselling rounds. This often involves paying a non-refundable counselling fee (e.g., ₹1,000 for all categories) and a refundable security deposit (e.g., ₹10,000 for government colleges only, or ₹1,00,000 for private/both).
  2. Choice Filling and Locking: Aspirants will then be able to prioritize and fill their preferred medical and dental colleges and courses online. Careful research into past cutoffs and strategic preference ordering is crucial here.
  3. Seat Allotment Results: Provisional seat allotment results will be published online for each round.
  4. Document Verification and Physical Reporting: Candidates provisionally allotted a seat will need to physically report to their assigned college with all original documents for thorough verification and to complete the admission formalities, including tuition fee payment.

Essential Documents for Future Stages:

Medical aspirants are strongly advised to keep the following documents ready in original, along with multiple sets of photocopies:

  • NEET UG 2025 Admit Card and Scorecard
  • Provisional Allotment Letter (after seat allotment)
  • Class 10th & 12th Mark Sheets and Certificates
  • Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) of Assam
  • Caste Certificate (if applicable, in the prescribed format by competent authority)
  • Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (for OBC candidates, if applicable, valid for 2025-26)
  • EWS/PwD Certificate (if applicable)
  • Transfer Certificate (TC) from the last institution
  • Migration Certificate
  • Character Certificate
  • Passport-size photographs (matching NEET application)
  • Valid Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar, PAN, Passport, etc.)

With the category correction deadline pressing down today, medical aspirants must prioritize this final opportunity. Thereafter, consistent monitoring of the DME Assam website will be paramount for timely updates on the Final Merit List and the comprehensive counselling schedule as they embark on their Higher Education journey in medicine in Assam.
