NIOS Bridge Course Registration Reopens Until October 28; Check Eligibility and Fee

The National Institute of Open Schooling has reopened registration for its Six-Month Certificate (Bridge) Course in Primary Teacher Education. The official portal says eligible candidates can register from 21 October to 28 October 2026. This is not a general teacher-training admission for every B.Ed. graduate. It is meant for a defined group of in-service primary teachers whose appointments were made on the basis of B.Ed. as a valid qualification during the specified period.
Who can apply for the NIOS Bridge Course?
- The official admission page lists the standard eligibility as follows:
- The applicant must be an in-service primary teacher with a B.Ed. qualification.
- The appointment must have been made on the basis of B.Ed. between 28 June 2018 and 11 August 2023.
- A teacher outside this date range who has obtained court relief should use the separate Court Order Registration route.
NIOS also says the course is for retaining eligibility in existing employment. It is not valid as a qualification for a future primary-teacher recruitment. Applicants should therefore check the eligibility tool and their appointment records before paying the fee.
Registration dates, fee and documents
| Item | Official detail |
|---|---|
| Registration window | 21–28 October 2026 |
| Admission and registration fee | ₹25,000, one-time and non-refundable |
| First-session examination fee | Included in the ₹25,000 fee |
| Online transaction charge | ₹70 per transaction |
The portal separately lists supplementary-examination fees of ₹600 per theory subject and ₹250 per practical subject. These are not additional charges for the first regular examination session. Applicants should keep a recent colour photograph, signature, B.Ed. marksheet or certificate, appointment letter and the prescribed self-declaration ready. The self-declaration must be certified by the school principal.
Registration does not complete verification
The NIOS process has three stages. First, the teacher submits the application. The school principal or head of school then verifies the teacher’s details, after which the state nodal officer carries out final confirmation. This means a submitted form or payment receipt is not the same as final acceptance. Details such as the appointment date, B.Ed. qualification, school and UDISE code must match the applicant’s records.
How to apply safely
- Open the official NIOS Bridge Course portal and use the Register Now or Enroll Now link. Read the eligibility instructions before starting the form.
- Enter personal and school details carefully, verify the UDISE code, upload readable documents and check the fee summary before payment.
- After completing the transaction, save the application acknowledgement and payment receipt.
- Also check the dashboard later for verification or correction requests.
- Candidates should not use third-party registration links or assume that a bank debit confirms successful submission.
- If payment is deducted but the portal does not show a completed status, retain the transaction reference and use the official support route.
What applicants should do next
Eligible teachers should complete registration well before 28 October 2026, then follow the same portal for verification updates, the programme guide and the academic calendar. Anyone uncertain about the appointment-date rule or a court-order case should obtain clarification before paying the non-refundable fee.
The immediate task is to confirm that the course applies to your existing appointment, prepare the required records and complete the official registration process within the reopened window. For other verified education updates, visit Only Education’s news section.
