NEET PG 2026 Answer Key: NBEMS Set to Release Provisional Key and Response Sheet Soon; Result by September 30

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has not yet released the NEET PG 2026 provisional answer key, but candidates can expect it soon on the official portal, natboard.edu.in. Once out, it will be the first time NBEMS has published an official answer key and response sheet for the exam, following a Supreme Court transparency ruling. The exam was held on August 30, 2026, and the result is scheduled by September 30, 2026.

Why This Year's Answer Key Release Is Different

NBEMS has historically kept NEET PG answer keys and question papers undisclosed, citing exam-security concerns. This year marks a departure: the board will issue the provisional answer key along with each candidate's own response sheet — showing question IDs, the correct answer, and what the candidate marked — through applicant login, after a Supreme Court directive pushed for greater transparency in the exam. The specific court order NBEMS's information brochure cites for this change hasn't been independently confirmed in available reporting [VERIFY exact case citation directly against the NBEMS brochure].

NEET PG 2026 Exam Snapshot

The exam was held on August 30 in a single shift for more than 2.65 lakh candidates at 1,111 centres across 338 cities, with a paper of 180 MCQs worth 720 marks, down from 200 questions in earlier cycles, and the marking scheme awarding four marks for each correct answer with a one-mark deduction for each wrong one.

The Jaipur Re-Exam, Explained

Candidates at two iON Digital Zone (iDZ) Sitapura centres in Jaipur — test centre numbers 41682 and 41683 — could not complete the exam on August 30 because of an internal power failure, which NBEMS attributed to TCS Ltd., the agency conducting the test. NBEMS scheduled a re-examination for the 2,445 affected candidates on September 5, 2026, at 3 PM in Jaipur, issuing revised admit cards and expressing regret for the disruption.

How to Check the Answer Key and Response Sheet (Once Released)

1. Visit the official website, natboard.edu.in.
2. Go to the "Entrance Examinations" section and select NEET PG 2026.
3. Click the applicant login link and enter your application number and password.
4. Open the answer key and provisional response sheet link.
5. Review the question ID, correct answer, and your recorded response for each question.
6. Download and save the PDF for your records.

The answer key itself won't include the full question paper, in keeping with NBEMS's non-disclosure policy on exam content — only question IDs, correct options, and your marked responses will be shown.

How to Calculate Your Probable Score

Once the answer key is out, apply the official marking scheme: multiply your correct answers by 4, then subtract your number of wrong answers. Unattempted questions carry no marks either way. Treat any score estimate as provisional — NBEMS can revise answers after the objection window (if one is offered), which would change the final tally used for the actual result.

NEET PG 2026 Qualifying Percentile

These are the standard category-wise percentile thresholds NEET PG uses each year to determine eligibility for counselling; the specific mark ranges are this cycle's expected figures and should be treated as indicative until NBEMS confirms the final cutoff with the result.

What Happens Next: Result and Counselling

NBEMS is scheduled to declare the NEET PG 2026 result by September 30, 2026, as per the official brochure. Once declared, eligible candidates move into counselling for MD, MS and PG Diploma seats, conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee for the All India Quota share and by respective state authorities for state quota seats.
