The Supreme Court has issued notices to MCC, NMC, and the Union of India regarding alleged irregularities in NEET PG 2024 AIQ counselling. Petitioners claim seat blocking led to unfair allocations and demand fresh counselling.

The Supreme Court has issued notices to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), National Medical Commission (NMC), Union of India, and Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Madhya Pradesh regarding alleged irregularities in NEET PG 2024 counselling. The petitioners claim that seat blocking and delays in state counselling resulted in an unfair AIQ Round 3 seat allotment process.

Key Highlights of the Case:

  • Supreme Court Notice Issued – MCC, NMC, and Union of India have been asked to respond to the allegations.
  • Seat Blocking & Delayed State Counselling – Petitioners argue that incomplete state Round 2 counselling affected AIQ Round 3 seat allotments.
  • Call for Fresh Counselling – The plea demands cancellation of AIQ Round 3 and an additional 4th round for unallocated seats.
  • Next Hearing Scheduled – The Supreme Court will hear the matter on February 7, 2025.

Why is AIQ Round 3 Counselling Under Scrutiny?

The petitioners argue that the NEET PG counselling process follows a structured sequence, ensuring fair seat distribution:
1️⃣ AIQ Round 1 → State Round 1
2️⃣ AIQ Round 2 → State Round 2
3️⃣ AIQ Round 3 → Stray Vacancy Round

However, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan failed to complete their Round 2 state counselling before the start of AIQ Round 3. While Rajasthan was granted an extension, Madhya Pradesh faced delays, leading to fewer seats in AIQ Round 3 counselling. As a result, many students were assigned lower-preference specialties due to the seat blocking issue.

What Are the Petitioners Demanding?

  • Reconduct AIQ Round 3 Counselling to ensure fair seat allocation.
  • Introduce a 4th Round of Counselling to accommodate blocked seats due to delayed state counselling.
  • Opportunity for Stray Vacancy Counselling for affected students.

Supreme Court’s Next Steps & Implications

The Supreme Court will conduct a detailed hearing on February 7, 2025, before deciding whether AIQ Round 3 counselling should be re-conducted. If the court rules in favor of the petitioners, MCC may have to reschedule AIQ Round 3 and introduce a 4th counselling round to fill leftover seats.

Conclusion

The ongoing legal battle over NEET PG 2024 AIQ counselling irregularities has created uncertainty for thousands of medical aspirants. If the Supreme Court orders a fresh AIQ Round 3 counselling, it could significantly impact the NEET PG admission process. Students must stay updated as the next hearing takes place on February 7, 2025.
