The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has increased the total number of NEET PG seats to 25,791 for the 2024-25 academic session, adding 820 new seats. Additionally, 494 seats have been introduced for DNB courses, enhancing opportunities for aspiring medical professionals.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has recently released a revised seat matrix for NEET PG 2024, announcing a significant increase in available seats for the upcoming academic session. A total of 820 additional postgraduate medical seats have been added, bringing the overall count to 25,791 seats for admissions in the 2024-25 session. This expansion aims to accommodate a larger number of candidates seeking postgraduate medical education across India.

In particular, the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) courses have seen a notable increase, with 494 new seats introduced. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for candidates interested in various specializations within the DNB framework. Among these new seats, 103 have been allocated to general medicine, which remains one of the most sought-after specialties. Other significant additions include 65 seats in orthopaedics and 48 seats in general surgery, reflecting the growing demand for these fields.

The MCC's revised seat matrix was made available on November 9, 2024, following a brief delay. While concerns were raised regarding some missing government college seats under the All India Quota (AIQ), officials have indicated that these will be added shortly. The overall increase in seats is expected to enhance opportunities for aspiring medical professionals and facilitate access to quality postgraduate training.

As NEET PG counselling progresses, candidates are encouraged to stay informed about the latest updates and ensure they complete their registration and choice filling by the specified deadlines. This year’s increase in available seats underscores the ongoing efforts to expand medical education capacity in India, ultimately benefiting healthcare delivery across the country.
