The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially commenced the application process for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2025. This examination serves as the gateway for admission to undergraduate medical courses across India. Prospective candidates are advised to familiarize themselves with the application timeline, eligibility requirements, and seat distribution to ensure a smooth application process.

Application Process and Important Dates

  • Registration Period:
    • The NEET 2025 application window opened on February 7, 2025, and will remain open until March 7, 2025. Candidates must complete their registration within this timeframe. 
  • Application Fee Payment:
    • The last date for payment of the application fee is March 7, 2025. It is crucial to ensure that the fee is paid by this date to avoid any complications. 
  • Correction Window:
    • A correction window will be available from March 9 to March 11, 2025, allowing candidates to rectify any discrepancies in their application forms. 
  • Admit Card Release:
    • The NEET 2025 admit cards are expected to be released by May 1, 2025. Candidates should download and print their admit cards promptly. 
  • Examination Date:
    • The NEET 2025 examination is scheduled for May 4, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Candidates should plan accordingly. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age Limit:
    • Candidates must have completed 17 years of age on or before December 31, 2025. 
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Applicants should have passed their 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects. A minimum aggregate of 50% marks is required for general category candidates, and 40% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates. 
  • Nationality:
    • Indian nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and foreign nationals are eligible to apply.

Statewise Seat Distribution

The NEET 2025 examination facilitates admission to various medical colleges across India. Each state has a specific number of seats allocated for undergraduate medical courses. For instance, Maharashtra offers 6,074 seats, Karnataka has 6,449 seats, Tamil Nadu provides 5,134 seats, Uttar Pradesh offers 4,220 seats, and West Bengal has 2,088 seats.
