Today, July 29, 2025, marks a critical deadline for postgraduate engineering aspirants in Maharashtra as the online submission and confirmation of option forms for MHT CET ME/M.Tech CAP Round 1 counselling officially concludes. This is a crucial step for candidates vying for admission to Master of Engineering (M.E.) and Master of Technology (M.Tech.) programs across various institutes in the state for the academic year 2025-26.

The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell), the conducting authority, has been facilitating this choice-filling process for eligible candidates who have either qualified through GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) or appeared for MHT CET P.G. entrance exams and whose names have appeared in the final merit lists.

Significance of Today's Deadline:

While the initial registration and document verification for M.E./M.Tech counselling might have closed earlier, today's deadline for CAP Round 1 Option Form submission is paramount. Failure to submit and confirm the choices of preferred colleges and specializations by the end of today will render candidates ineligible for seat allotment in this round. This is the opportunity for aspirants to lock in their preferences based on their merit rank and available seats.

Steps Followed So Far & What's Next:

The M.E./M.Tech counselling process has already seen the release of provisional and final merit lists for both GATE qualified and non-GATE candidates. The provisional seat matrix for CAP Round 1 was also published, guiding candidates in their choice filling.

Following the closure of the option form submission window today, the CET Cell will proceed with the subsequent phases:

  1. Display of Provisional Allotment for CAP Round 1: Candidates can expect the provisional seat allotment result to be declared in the coming days (typically within 2-3 days after choice filling, though the exact date for ME/M.Tech will be updated on the portal). This result will indicate the tentative institute and course allotted to them.
  2. Acceptance of Offered Seat: Upon viewing their allotment, candidates will need to decide whether to 'Freeze' (accept the seat and confirm admission) or 'Float' (accept the seat but wish to be considered for betterment in subsequent rounds). A seat acceptance fee must typically be paid online during this period.
  3. Reporting to Allotted Institute: Candidates who 'Freeze' their seat will then be required to physically report to the allotted college for document verification and final admission formalities, including fee payment.

Important for Candidates:

Aspirants are strongly advised to keep all their original documents ready for seamless verification. Essential documents generally include:

  • GATE Scorecard (if applicable)
  • Bachelor's Degree Marksheets and Certificates (B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent)
  • MHT CET P.G. Scorecard (if applicable)
  • Domicile Certificate (for Maharashtra candidates)
  • Caste/Tribe/Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (if applicable)
  • EWS Certificate (if applicable)
  • Transfer Certificate/Leaving Certificate
  • Valid Photo ID Proof
  • Passport-size photographs

Stay Updated:

All M.E./M.Tech aspirants are urged to regularly visit the official website of the Maharashtra State CET Cell for Post Graduate Admissions: me2025.mahacet.org for the latest notifications, detailed schedules of subsequent rounds, and any further instructions. Timely action at each stage is crucial to secure admission into their desired postgraduate engineering programs.
