Registration for the MAT (Management Aptitude Test) December 2025 session is officially open, offering a crucial gateway to over 600 B-schools. Conducted by AIMA, candidates can choose between the Paper Based Test (PBT) on December 13 or the Computer Based Test (CBT) on December 21, with separate, non-negotiable deadlines. Graduates and final-year students must register on the official portal, mat.aima.in, before the PBT deadline of December 7 or the CBT deadline of December 15. Act fast to secure your spot in this vital national-level entrance exam for the 2026-27 MBA/PGDM intake.

The All India Management Association (AIMA) has announced that the registration window for the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) December 2025 session is officially open. This is a significant announcement for MBA and PGDM aspirants across the country, as MAT is a popular, national-level entrance exam accepted by over 600 B-schools. The December session provides a final, high-stakes opportunity for candidates aiming for admission in the 2026-27 academic year.

Aspirants are offered maximum flexibility, with the choice of two distinct examination modes: the Paper Based Test (PBT) and the Computer Based Test (CBT). However, candidates must be acutely aware of the separate and strict registration deadlines associated with each mode. Graduates and current final-year undergraduate students are eligible to apply. All interested candidates must complete their registration and application submission exclusively on the official AIMA portal, mat.aima.in.

MAT December 2025 Schedule: PBT vs. CBT Deadlines

Unlike many other competitive exams, MAT's dual-mode structure and frequent conduct offer greater convenience, but it requires careful attention to the specific timelines for each format. Registration for one or both tests is now underway.

  • PBT (Paper Based Test) Schedule:
    • Registration Closes: December 7, 2025 (Sunday). Candidates preferring the traditional pen-and-paper format must submit their application and fee by this date.
    • Admit Card Availability: December 10, 2025 (5:00 PM onwards).
    • Exam Date: December 13, 2025 (Saturday). This mode is generally conducted in a single session across selected test cities.
  • CBT (Computer Based Test) Schedule:
    • Registration Closes: December 15, 2025 (Monday). This deadline offers a slight extension for those opting for the digital format.
    • Admit Card Availability: December 18, 2025 (5:00 PM onwards).
    • Exam Date: December 21, 2025 (Sunday). The CBT mode is typically held in multiple test centres, often providing a more familiar environment for tech-savvy students.
  • Fee Structure and Dual-Mode Advantage:
    • The fee for a single test mode (PBT or CBT) is ₹2,200.
    • Candidates who choose to appear for both PBT and CBT (PBT + CBT) benefit from a discounted fee of ₹3,800. This dual registration is highly recommended as it provides two separate attempts, allowing candidates to use their best score for B-School applications.

Step-by-Step MAT Registration Process and Eligibility

The application process for the MAT December 2025 session is entirely online. Candidates must ensure they meet the basic eligibility criteria and follow the steps below to successfully complete their registration on time.

  • Eligibility Requirements (Who Can Apply?):
    • Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university or institution.
    • Final-Year Students: Importantly, students currently in the final year of their undergraduate degree program are also eligible to apply provisionally.
    • Age and Minimum Marks: There is no age limit to appear for MAT, and AIMA does not specify a minimum percentage in graduation, although participating B-schools may set their own minimum cut-off criteria.
  • Essential Registration Steps on mat.aima.in:
    • Initial Registration: Visit the official website, mat.aima.in, and click on the 'Register' link. Fill in your name, mobile number, email ID, and desired password to create a unique ID.
    • Form Filling & Uploads: Log in using the new credentials. Fill in all personal, academic, and contact details. Upload a recent scanned photograph (10KB-50KB) and scanned signature (5KB-20KB) in the specified format.
    • Test Mode & City Selection: Select your preferred test mode (PBT, CBT, or Both) and choose your preferred test cities from the drop-down list.
    • Fee Payment: Proceed to the payment gateway to submit the application fee online using Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking. Download and print the Confirmation Page for future reference.

Strategic Preparation for the Final December Attempt

With the exam dates locked in, the remaining weeks should be focused on strategic preparation and revision rather than learning new complex topics. MAT's structure differs from CAT, placing emphasis on speed and coverage of an extra section.

  • Focus Areas in MAT’s 5 Sections (150 Questions, 120 Minutes):
    • Language Comprehension: Dedicate time to vocabulary, grammar, and improving reading speed for the Reading Comprehension (RC) passages.
    • Intelligence and Critical Reasoning: Practice diverse puzzles, sequencing, analogies, and critical reasoning arguments. This section is often a high-scoring area.
    • Mathematical Skills (Quantitative Aptitude): Revise fundamental concepts from Arithmetic (Time & Work, Percentages, Profit & Loss), Algebra, and Geometry, avoiding overly complex, CAT-level questions.
    • Data Analysis & Sufficiency (D.I.): Focus on quick calculations, interpreting graphs, charts, and tables, and mastering Data Sufficiency logic.
    • Economic & Business Environment (General Awareness): This unique section requires dedicated revision of current affairs, business news, and static GK related to the economy, brands, and politics from the last 12-18 months.
  • Maximising Mock Tests:
    • Take at least 4-5 full-length mock tests simulating the exact 2-hour duration and the five-section structure.
    • Analyze mock performance meticulously to identify your weakest sections and those questions that consistently take too much time, allowing for better time management on the actual exam day.

Conclusion

The MAT December 2025 session is a pivotal moment for MBA aspirants, providing a final, flexible chance to secure a score for the next academic cycle. With the PBT scheduled for December 13 and the CBT for December 21, the deadlines of December 7 and December 15 are non-negotiable markers. By completing the registration immediately at mat.aima.in and adopting a targeted preparation strategy focusing on MAT's unique structure, candidates can effectively leverage this national-level test to step into a quality management program.
