The much-awaited application process for the Lovely Professional University National Entrance and Scholarship Test (LPU NEST) 2026 for admission into various B.Tech. Engineering programs is set to begin soon, making it a critical time for aspiring engineers. LPU NEST serves a dual purpose: it acts as the mandatory entrance examination for many B.Tech. specializations and is also the gateway to substantial scholarships, with awards potentially reaching up to ₹8.40 Lakh per student. Aspiring candidates are strongly advised to keep a close watch on the official LPU admissions portal to ensure they apply and book their slots early, especially since the test is conducted in multiple phases throughout the admission cycle.

Key Tentative Dates and Multi-Phase Examination

Unlike most entrance exams held once a year, LPU NEST is conducted across several schedules, allowing students flexibility. While the main B.Tech. admissions often center around the January-to-February exam window, applications for the various schedules typically begin in late months of the preceding year. For the 2026 session, the online application process for the initial major schedule is tentatively expected to commence in December 2025.

The LPU NEST 2026 exam itself is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) that offers flexibility to aspirants, who can choose between appearing at a designated test centre or opting for the Online Remotely Proctored Exam from home. The entrance examination dates for the main phase generally start from January 2026 onwards. With seats often filling up quickly, and higher scholarship brackets awarded in the initial phases, applying and booking an exam slot at the earliest is highly recommended. The results for the LPU NEST are remarkably fast, typically being displayed within 24 working hours of the examination.

Application Procedure and Fees

Candidates can complete the LPU NEST 2026 application through a fully Online Mode, an Offline Mode by purchasing an Application Kit, or a Semi-Offline Mode.

  1. Online Registration: Candidates must first register on the official LPU admissions portal with basic details like name, email ID, and mobile number to create their LPUADMIT account.
  2. Payment and Application Form: The application fee is paid while purchasing the LPU NEST Kit. For boys and girls, the fee for the Soft Copy of the LPUNEST Kit is ₹1000, while the Printed LPUNEST Kit costs ₹1500. This fee is mandatory to proceed.
  3. Detail Submission: Applicants then proceed to fill in their general and academic qualification details and upload scanned copies of necessary documents, including Class 11 and 12 mark sheets (if available) and a recent photograph.
  4. Slot Booking: This is a crucial step. Candidates must book their preferred exam slot (date and time) and their choice of exam mode (test centre or remote proctored). The admit card is generated only after successful slot booking.

Eligibility and Exam Pattern Overview

The primary eligibility criterion for B.Tech. programs is a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or Biology/Biotechnology for certain specialisations) as mandatory subjects.

The LPU NEST B.Tech. exam pattern typically consists of 125 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) to be completed in a duration of 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes). The marking scheme awards 4 marks for every correct answer, with the significant benefit of no negative marking, encouraging aspirants to attempt all questions.

This national-level exam is your opportunity not only for admission but also to secure a merit-based scholarship that significantly reduces your financial burden. For regular updates follow Only Education News, and for more details on courses and exams, visit Engineering Exams List.
