KEA continues the KCET 2026 application process for Engineering and Pharmacy courses. Eligible candidates must register by the February deadline. Details inside.

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is currently facilitating the online registration window for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2026. Aspiring students seeking admission into undergraduate Engineering, Pharmacy, Agriculture, and Veterinary programs across the state are encouraged to complete their applications via the official KEA portal. With the academic session for 2026-27 approaching, the authority has streamlined the digital process to ensure a user-friendly experience for over three lakh prospective candidates.

Eligibility Criteria and Course Pathways

To maintain high academic standards, KEA has defined specific eligibility requirements for the various professional streams available through the entrance test. For the flagship Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) programs, candidates must have passed their 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Similarly, those opting for the Pharmacy (B.Pharm) track are required to have studied Physics, Chemistry, and either Biology or Mathematics.

A significant aspect of the eligibility norms remains the domicile requirement. To qualify for government-allotted seats, candidates must typically have studied in Karnataka for a minimum of seven years between Class 1 and the second PUC. The KCET serves as a vital gateway not only for technical courses but also for Farm Science programs, where a 50% weightage is often given to the practical test results for candidates applying under the agriculturist quota.

  • Engineering: Requires 45% aggregate in PCM (40% for reserved categories).
  • Pharmacy: Open to both PCB and PCM stream students.
  • Architecture: Requires a valid NATA 2026 or JEE Main Paper 2 score plus KCET registration.
  • Medical/Dental: Admissions are via NEET UG, though KCET registration is often required for state-pool counselling.

Application Timeline and Fee Structure

The registration process involves a multi-step sequence including the creation of a user ID, filling in academic particulars, and uploading scanned documents. Candidates are advised to keep their SSLC marks card and a valid Aadhaar card ready for the OTP-based verification system. The Pharmacy and Engineering aspirants must also pay the prescribed application fee through the integrated online payment gateway to finalize their submission.

Conclusion

As the registration window progresses toward its February deadline, KEA has emphasized the importance of double-checking all entries before the final submission. While a correction window is expected to open in March, certain fields like the candidate's name and eligibility clause may have restricted editing options. Successful applicants will be issued hall tickets in early April for the offline pen-and-paper test. For those aiming for a career in Pharmacy or Engineering in Karnataka, the current window represents a critical first step in their professional journey.
