The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has issued a strict warning regarding seat cancellation and the submission of forged documents during the NEET UG 2025 counselling process. Aspirants must be aware of the serious financial and legal consequences.

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced a set of stringent guidelines and warnings for medical aspirants participating in the state's NEET UG 2025 counselling. The new rules are designed to curb malpractices and ensure the integrity of the seat allocation process. Aspiring students must pay close attention to these regulations to avoid severe financial penalties and legal repercussions that could jeopardize their future medical career.

One of the most significant warnings concerns seat cancellation. The KEA has made it clear that a candidate who cancels an allotted MBBS seat will be subject to a heavy penalty. This includes a fee of Rs 2 lakh in addition to the entire course fee, or the forfeiture of their advance course fee. This strict measure is intended to deter candidates from blocking valuable seats and then abandoning them at the last minute, which often creates a ripple effect and complicates the admission process for other students.

For candidates who are allotted a government "G" medical seat in the first round and choose to hold it while waiting for an upgrade (Choice-2), the KEA mandates the payment of an advance course fee. This fee acts as a commitment, ensuring that only serious candidates are holding a seat. For those allotted a seat with a fee structure exceeding Rs 12 lakh, an advance course fee of Rs 12,00,117 must be paid, solidifying their commitment to the allotted institution.

The Zero-Tolerance Policy on Forged Documents

In a major clampdown on fraudulent practices, the KEA has issued a zero-tolerance warning against the submission of fake or forged documents. The authority is conducting a thorough verification process, and any mismatches found in the submitted information will lead to immediate withdrawal of the seat. The cancelled seat will be added back to the next counselling round, giving an opportunity to other deserving candidates.

The consequences for submitting forged documents are particularly severe. A candidate found to have submitted fake documents will have their seat cancelled without any prior notice. All fees paid will be forfeited, and the candidate will be permanently barred from taking future examinations. Furthermore, the KEA has stated that it will blacklist the names of such individuals with various medical and technical councils, effectively ending their chances of pursuing a medical education. The authority has also warned that criminal action will be taken against those involved in such malpractices. This firm stance by the KEA aims to maintain the fairness and credibility of the entire medical admission process.
