The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially concluded the registration process for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 (April Attempt). The portal, jeemain.nta.nic.in, which saw a massive surge in traffic until late last night, is now closed for fresh applications.

Following the closure of the fee payment window at 11:50 PM yesterday, the NTA is now expected to announce the dates for the "Form Correction Window." This facility will allow candidates who have already registered to rectify any minor errors in their personal details, category selection, or paper preferences before the final data is used to generate hall tickets.

To stay updated on the specific fields that can be edited during the "Correction Window," follow Only Education News.

JEE Main 2026: Post-Registration Timeline

With the registration phase over, the focus for over 1.2 million aspirants shifts to the following critical dates:

What to Expect During the Correction Window?

The NTA provides this one-time opportunity to ensure that the candidate's database is 100% accurate. This is vital because the details provided here will be shared with the JoSAA/CSAB counseling authorities later in the year.

  • Critical Edits: Candidates are typically allowed to change their Category (e.g., General to OBC-NCL/EWS), which can significantly impact their qualifying cut-off.
  • Paper Changes: Students who initially applied only for B.E./B.Tech (Paper 1) may be given an option to add B.Arch or B.Plan (Paper 2) by paying the additional fee.
  • Non-Editable Fields: Note that core identity markers like the Registered Mobile Number, Email Address, and Permanent Address usually remain locked and cannot be changed.

Strategy for the April Attempt: The "Best of Two" Advantage

For many students, the April session is a redemption round. Since NTA considers the Best of Two NTA scores for the final All India Rank (AIR), the Session 2 exam allows students to apply the lessons learned from the January attempt.

  1. Analyze Session 1: Use your January response sheet to identify "weak areas." If your Physics score was lower due to time management, focus on speed-solving mock tests.
  2. Syllabus Completion: Ensure that any Class 12 topics that were skipped in January (due to Board exam pressure) are now mastered.
  3. High-Weightage Focus: Revisit Modern Physics, Heat & Thermodynamics, and Coordinate Geometry—topics that consistently carry high marks in NTA papers.

The Road Ahead: JEE Advanced and Beyond

The final cut-off for JEE Advanced 2026 will be declared along with the Session 2 results in late April. Only the top 2,50,000 qualifiers will be eligible to sit for the IIT entrance. Therefore, for those on the borderline, every single mark gained in the April session could be the difference between getting into an NIT or being disqualified from the IIT race.
