JEE Main 2026 registration is expected to begin in October 2025 at jeemain.nta.nic.in. The exam will be held in two sessions (January and April 2026). The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started issuing advisories and tentative schedules for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026, the gateway exam for admission to B.E./B.Tech programs in NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and the qualifier for JEE Advanced.

Aspirants are advised to prepare their documents and stay updated, as the official registration window is expected to open soon.

Key Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

JEE Main 2026 will be a Computer-Based Test (CBT) held in 13 languages.

Marking Scheme+4 for every correct answer, and -1 for every incorrect MCQ. There is no negative marking for incorrect numerical value questions (in Section B).

Eligibility Criteria Overview

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have either passed or be appearing in Class 12 (or equivalent examination).
  • Age Limit: There is no age limit to appear for the exam. However, an applicant can appear for the exam for three consecutive years from the year of passing Class 12.
  • Minimum Marks Requirement: There is no minimum marks requirement in Class 12 to appear for the exam. However, for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, candidates must secure a minimum of 75% marks in Class 12 (or be in the top 20 percentile).

Registration Steps and NTA Advisory

Candidates must register on the official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Steps for Registration:

  1. Visit the official website: https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/.
  2. Click on the JEE Main 2026 application form link and select 'New Candidate Registration'.
  3. Complete the basic registration to receive your login credentials.
  4. Log back in to fill out the detailed application form.
  5. Upload the necessary documents (scanned photos, signature, Class 10 certificate, PwD certificate if applicable).
  6. Pay the application fee and submit the form.
  7. Download and save the confirmation slip.

NTA Advisory: Aspirants are strongly urged to ensure that their official documents—specifically their Aadhar Card details, Caste Certificate (EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL), and UDID Card (for PwD candidates)—are accurate, updated, and renewed before the registration begins in October 2025 to avoid rejection of the form due to data mismatch.
