JEE Main 2026 Dates Expected Soon: NTA to Align Schedule with CBSE Board Exams

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to announce the official dates for the JEE Main 2026 examination shortly. This is a critical piece of information for lakhs of engineering aspirants aiming for admission into top institutions like the IITs, NITs, and IIITs.

Following the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) recent announcement of the tentative Class 12 datesheet, the NTA will now finalize its JEE Main 2026 schedule to ensure there is no clash with the board examinations. For every aspiring engineer, balancing board preparation and entrance tests is key, and this alignment provides much-needed clarity.

Expected Schedule for JEE Main 2026

Based on the CBSE Class 12 tentative datesheet, which suggests the board exams will commence around February 17, 2026, and conclude by April 9, 2026, the two sessions of the JEE Main are highly likely to follow their traditional windows:

1. Session 1 (January Attempt): This session is expected to be conducted entirely in the last week of January 2026. This timing ensures that students complete their first attempt before the commencement of their crucial board theory papers.
2. Session 2 (April Attempt): This session is anticipated to be scheduled after the Class 12 board exams conclude, likely starting in the second week of April 2026. This gap is designed to give aspirants a second chance to improve their scores without the pressure of simultaneous board exams.

Aspirants should use this predictable timeline to create a robust and dual-focused preparation strategy for both the board examinations and the engineering entrance exams.

Application Timeline and Next Steps for Aspirants

The registration process is the first critical step toward your dream engineering career. Engineering students should keep track of the following expected dates:

The NTA generally releases the official notification for registration, including the application website, fee details, and full schedule, in the last week of October or early November.

Action Point for Students: Use the next few weeks to solidify your syllabus for Class 11 and the initial topics of Class 12. A focused approach now will pay off when the pressure mounts closer to the actual examination dates.
