The National Testing Agency has issued a mandatory reminder for all JEE Main 2026 Session 1 candidates regarding exam centre protocols. Candidates are required to adhere to strict gate closing times and biometric verification procedures to ensure entry. This notice highlights the importance of carrying the printed admit card, original ID, and following the specified dress code. Failure to comply with these NTA regulations may result in candidates being barred from the examination hall.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a fresh advisory for all students participating in the ongoing JEE Main 2026 Session 1. With the first session of the engineering entrance exam currently underway across the country, the agency has emphasized that strict adherence to reporting protocols is non-negotiable. This reminder serves to ensure that the multi-layered security and biometric verification processes are completed without causing delays to the commencement of the test. Officials have noted that several candidates faced difficulties in earlier shifts due to late arrival or incorrect documentation, prompting this urgent reminder.

Mandatory Gate Timings and Biometric Verification

The entry process at each centre is strictly timed to maintain the integrity of the examination. Candidates are expected to arrive at the venue well in advance of the scheduled start time to complete the necessary formalities.

  • Gate Closing Policy: For the morning shift, the gates close strictly at 8:30 AM, and for the afternoon shift, the deadline is 2:30 PM. No entry is permitted after these times.
  • Aadhaar Authentication: Real-time Aadhaar biometric authentication is a mandatory requirement at the centre to verify the identity of the candidate.
  • Non-Aadhaar Candidates: Students who did not register using Aadhaar must report at least one hour earlier than the regular reporting time for manual verification.
  • Bio-breaks: Any candidate taking a restroom break during the test will be required to undergo the biometric and frisking process again upon re-entry.

Document Checklist and Prohibited Items

To pass through the security checkpoints efficiently, every candidate must possess a specific set of physical documents. The NTA has clarified that digital copies on mobile devices will not be accepted as valid proof.

Purpose / Specification

Printed Admit Card

Must include the filled Self-Declaration (Undertaking)

Original Photo ID

Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, or Voter ID

Passport Photographs

At least two identical photos for the attendance sheet

PwD Certificate

Dress Code and Conduct Inside the Hall

To facilitate a smooth frisking process using metal detectors, the NTA has outlined specific clothing guidelines. These measures are in place to prevent the use of unfair means and ensure a transparent environment at the centre.

  • Footwear Restrictions: Shoes with thick soles and closed footwear are prohibited; candidates are advised to wear simple slippers or sandals.
  • Clothing: Light clothes with half sleeves are preferred. Large buttons, brooches, and garments with many pockets should be avoided.
  • Electronic Gadgets: All electronic items, including smartwatches, calculators, and mobile phones, are strictly banned from the test area.
  • Rough Work: A4-sized sheets for rough work will be provided in the hall. Each candidate must write their name and roll number on these sheets and drop them in the box before leaving.

Conclusion

The NTA continues to monitor all examination venues through CCTV surveillance and high-tech jammers. This reminder highlights that the responsibility for reaching the centre on time and carrying the correct documents rests solely with the candidate. Following these established guidelines ensures that the test proceeds fairly for all aspirants across the nation.
