With only 5.1 lakh candidates registered so far, JEE Main 2025 is witnessing the lowest registration numbers this year, attributed to a complicated application process and stringent document requirements. The last date to apply for the exam is November 22, 2024.

The registration process for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 has seen a significant decline this year, with only 5.1 lakh candidates registered so far. This number is notably lower compared to previous years, raising concerns about the overall interest in the exam and the factors contributing to this drop.

Current Registration Status

As of now, approximately 5.1 lakh students have successfully registered for JEE Main 2025, which is considerably less than the 12.21 lakh registrations recorded during the same period last year. The registration window opened on October 28, 2024, and will remain open until November 22, 2024. Experts suggest that this decline in numbers may be attributed to several factors, including a complex application process and stringent document requirements that have deterred potential candidates.

Reasons for Low Registration

  1. Complex Application Process: Many students have reported difficulties navigating the online application system, which may have led to delays in completing their registrations.
  2. Document Requirements: The extensive list of required documents, including scanned photographs, signatures, class certificates, and identity proofs, has posed challenges for many applicants.
  3. Festive Season Impact: The recent festive holidays may have also contributed to a slowdown in registrations as students were preoccupied with celebrations.

Historical Context

The current registration figures reflect a worrying trend when compared to previous years:

  • In 2024, registrations reached over 25 lakh across two sessions.
  • In 2023, the total was approximately 17.91 lakh, with around 8.6 lakh for the January session.
  • The numbers for 2022 were similarly low at around 14.95 lakh.

Final Registration Push

With the deadline for registration approaching on November 22, experts believe there may still be an uptick in applications as candidates rush to complete their forms. It is crucial for prospective students to ensure they have all required documents ready and to follow the guidelines carefully to avoid any issues during submission.
