IIT Patna Opens BS Admissions 2026 for AI, Cybersecurity, CS and Data Analytics

IIT Patna, through its Centre for Educational Technology (CET), has opened registrations for the 2026-27 intake of its four-year undergraduate BS programs in Artificial Intelligence & Cybersecurity (AICS) and Computer Science & Data Analytics (CSDA). Both programs are delivered in hybrid mode, blending online instruction with on-campus components, and registrations close on September 30, 2026.
What Has Been Announced
CET has confirmed that applications are open for both specializations for the upcoming intake cycle. The institute positions these as modular, multi-exit degree programs aimed at giving learners flexibility that a conventional four-year, fully on-campus B.Tech does not offer.
Programmes and Seats
| Program | Seats |
|---|---|
| BS in Artificial Intelligence & Cybersecurity (AICS) | 240 |
| BS in Computer Science & Data Analytics (CSDA) | 240 |
Important Admission Dates
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Last date to register | September 30, 2026 |
| Admission decision | October 1, 2026 |
| IITP-SAT (entrance test) | October 4–5, 2026 |
Candidates should note the tight turnaround: the entrance exam falls within days of the admission decision being announced, leaving little room to prepare after results are out.
How to Apply
- Visit IIT Patna CET's admission portal.
- Select the preferred program — AICS or CSDA.
- Fill in academic and personal details.
- Upload the required documents.
- Submit before September 30, 2026.
After submission, applicants must track the portal for their admission decision, IITP-SAT scheduling, and subsequent virtual counselling.
Electives on Offer
Students can specialize further through electives in:
- Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
- Data Science and Engineering (DSE)
- Generative AI
- Product Management
- Software Engineering
Multiple Exit Options
A defining feature of the program is that students are not locked into completing all four years to earn a credential:
| Stage Completed | Credential Awarded |
|---|---|
| After Year 1 | Foundation Certificate |
| After Year 2 | Diploma |
| After Year 3 | BSc (Hons) Degree |
| After Year 4 | BS Degree |
| After Year 5 (optional) | BS-MS Dual Degree |
This structure suits students who may need to pause their education or enter the workforce earlier without losing academic credit for time already invested.
About the Hybrid Learning Format
The programs combine online coursework with periodic on-campus academic engagement, a format IIT Patna's CET says is intended for learners — including working professionals — who need a more adaptable schedule than a traditional residential IIT program allows. Admission to these hybrid degrees runs through CET's own process rather than JEE-based counselling.
Where to Apply
Interested candidates can register through IIT Patna CET's official admission portal before the September 30, 2026 deadline. Given the short gap between the registration close, admission decision, and IITP-SAT dates, applicants are advised to complete their registration well ahead of the deadline and check the portal regularly for updates.
