The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, the conducting body for GATE 2026, has provided a major relief to engineering aspirants by confirming the rescheduling of the GATE 2026 examination dates to prevent a clash with the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE).

The initial GATE 2026 dates (February 7, 8, 14, and 15) conflicted with the UPSC ESE exam on February 8, causing concern among students aiming for both public sector jobs (through ESE) and M.Tech admissions (through GATE).

Key Updates and Revised Dates

• Rescheduled Date Confirmation: IIT Guwahati has officially confirmed that it will reschedule the GATE 2026 exam to avoid the clash on February 8, 2026. The institute has specifically guaranteed that core papers, including Civil Engineering (CE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC), will not be scheduled on February 8.
• Registration Deadline Extended: In light of the ongoing process, the deadline to apply for GATE 2026 with regular fees has been revised and extended to October 6, 2025.
• Late Fee Deadline: The last date to apply with a late fee remains October 9, 2025.
