September 29 brings two crucial updates for both undergraduate and postgraduate Engineering aspirants across the country. While the final window for GATE 2026 applications has opened, B.Tech aspirants must immediately review the revised syllabus for JEE Main 2026 to align their preparation.

GATE 2026: Last Opportunity to Apply with Late Fee

The period for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 registration without a late fee ended yesterday. Starting today, September 29, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has officially opened the late fee registration window, providing a final opportunity for aspirants who missed the initial deadline.

Candidates who still need to submit their applications for M.Tech/Ph.D. admissions must complete the process on the official website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in, by October 9, 2025.

Key Fee Change:

• Applicants must now pay an additional late fee. For General, OBC, and EWS candidates, the fee has increased from ₹2,000 to ₹2,500 per paper. For Female, SC/ST, and PwD candidates, the fee is now ₹1,500 per paper.

JEE Main 2026 Syllabus Undergoes Major Revision

In a major development for Class 11 and 12 students preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the updated syllabus, featuring several significant deletions and changes.

Aspirants are strongly advised to download the official 2026 syllabus PDF immediately to avoid studying irrelevant topics. Key changes reported include:

• Physics: Topics like the 'Communication System' chapter have reportedly been removed.
• Chemistry: Several chapters have been deleted from Physical, Inorganic, and Organic Chemistry sections, including 'Surface Chemistry,' 'States of Matter,' 'Polymers,' and 'Environmental Chemistry.'
• Mathematics: Chapters like 'Mathematical Induction' and 'Mathematical Reasoning' have been removed.

This streamlining of the syllabus is intended to ease the load on students and focus their preparation on core engineering concepts. Aspirants must adjust their study timetables promptly based on these revisions.
