The registration for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 is in its final phase. Aspirants who missed the original deadline for regular registration now have a last opportunity to apply with a late fee.

Important Dates at a Glance

Candidates aspiring for M.Tech/M.E./Ph.D. admissions in premier institutions like the IITs, IISc, NITs, and for recruitment opportunities in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) must complete their application through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) by the October 9, 2025 deadline.

Late Fee Details

The application fee increases during this extended registration window. The fee structure (which includes the additional late fee) for Indian nationals is approximately as follows:

Candidate CategoryFee with Late Fee (Approximate INR)
Female / SC / ST / PwD Candidates₹1,400 to ₹1,500 per paper
All Other Candidates₹2,300 to ₹2,500 per paper

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official GATE 2026 website: https://gate2026.iitg.ac.in/.
  2. Log in to the GOAPS portal using your Enrollment ID and password.
  3. Ensure all personal, academic, and exam details are accurately filled in the application form.
  4. Upload the necessary scanned documents (photograph, signature, ID proof, category certificate, etc.) according to the prescribed specifications.
  5. Proceed to the payment section. The system will calculate the total fee, including the late fee, based on your category and selected paper(s).
  6. Pay the fee online using Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, or UPI.
  7. Submit the form and take a printout of the final application for your records.
