The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, the organizing institute for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026, has provided a crucial breather for engineering aspirants! The deadline to make corrections in the GATE 2026 application form has been officially extended to November 10, 2025. This extension offers a vital second chance for all candidates who might have made errors during the initial application process to rectify their details and ensure their candidature remains valid.

Key Details on the Correction Facility

Aspirants must note that the correction facility is exclusively available through the official GATE 2026 website: gate2026.iitg.ac.in. You will need your Enrolment ID and Password generated during registration to log in to the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal and access the edit option.

It's paramount for every candidate to meticulously review their submitted form now, as certain critical details can be modified within this window. These include rectifying errors in your name, date of birth, exam city preference, gender, category, and choice of paper(s).

Minor details like parents'/guardian's information, correspondence address, college name, and qualifying degree are generally allowed to be updated without an extra fee, but fees apply for major changes, as the table indicates. This is a final opportunity to align your application details with your official documents, which is essential for both the examination and subsequent admission and recruitment processes.

Important Examination Schedule for Engineers

Alongside the correction deadline extension, IIT Guwahati has reaffirmed the official examination schedule. The GATE 2026 exam will be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. Aspiring engineers should use the remaining time to strategize their study plan based on these confirmed dates. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national-level examination that serves as a gateway for admission into postgraduate engineering and science programs (M.E./M.Tech./Ph.D.) at premier institutes like the IITs, NITs, and IIITs, and is also used by various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment.

Who is Eligible?

The eligibility criteria for GATE 2026 remain broad to accommodate a wide range of students. Typically, candidates who are currently in the 3rd or higher years of their undergraduate degree program (like B.E./B.Tech.) or who have already completed a government-approved degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts are eligible to appear. There is no age limit for the GATE exam.

Students are strongly advised to take advantage of this extended correction window. A faultless application is the first step toward a successful GATE attempt.
