The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 exam centres have been officially announced. Candidates can now select their preferred cities from a comprehensive list spanning eight zones across India. With new cities added and some centres shifted, it's crucial to stay updated and make informed choices during the application process.​

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has released the official list of GATE 2025 exam centres. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 will be conducted across multiple cities in India, divided into eight zones managed by IISc Bangalore and seven IITs. This year, several new cities have been added to accommodate the increasing number of applicants, ensuring wider accessibility and convenience.


Zonal Distribution of GATE 2025 Exam Centres

Zone 1: IISc Bangalore

Covers cities in Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Major cities include Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hyderabad, and Port Blair.​

Zone 2: IIT Bombay

Encompasses Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa.

Key centres are Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Nagpur.​

Zone 3: IIT Delhi

Includes Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Notable cities are New Delhi, Jaipur, and Gurugram.​

Zone 4: IIT Guwahati

Covers the northeastern states.

Important centres are Guwahati, Shillong, and Imphal.​

Zone 5: IIT Kanpur

Encompasses Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Major cities include Kanpur, Lucknow, and Bhopal.​

Zone 6: IIT Kharagpur

Covers West Bengal, Odisha, and Jharkhand.

Key centres are Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, and Dhanbad.​

Zone 7: IIT Madras

Includes Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry.

Notable cities are Chennai, Coimbatore, and Madurai.​

Zone 8: IIT Roorkee

Encompasses Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and parts of Uttar Pradesh.

Major centres are Roorkee, Dehradun, and Shimla.​


New Additions and Important Changes

New Exam Cities Added:

To enhance accessibility, 11 new cities have been included in the GATE 2025 exam centres list.

These additions aim to accommodate the growing number of applicants and reduce travel burdens.​

Centre Shifts Due to Events:

The exam centre in Prayagraj has been shifted to Lucknow for exams scheduled on February 15 and 16, 2025, due to the Mahakumbh event.

Candidates assigned to Prayagraj should download the updated admit cards reflecting the new centre details.​


Guidelines for Selecting and Changing Exam Centres

Selection During Application:

Candidates can choose up to three preferred cities within the same zone while filling out the GATE 2025 application form.

It's advisable to select cities based on proximity and convenience.

Changing Exam Centres:

A correction window is provided for candidates to modify their chosen exam centres.

Changes are subject to availability and may require an additional fee.​

Final Allotment:

The final exam centre allotment will be mentioned on the GATE 2025 admit card.

Candidates should regularly check the official website for updates and notifications.​
