February 2026 has emerged as a high-velocity period for the engineering admission cycle, with multiple national and state-level bodies coordinating their schedules. While the JEE Main Session 2 window remains a priority, major private institutes like VIT, Manipal, and SRM are actively processing phase-wise applications. This update provides a comprehensive view of current deadlines, entrance dates, and official portal links for 2026-27 aspirants.

The engineering admission landscape in India is witnessing a coordinated surge in activity as several national and state-level entrance bodies align their registration timelines. As of today, February 15, the focus has expanded beyond the JEE Main to include prestigious private universities and regional consortiums. The month of February serves as a critical junction for students who are balancing their board examination preparations with the registration requirements of multiple technical institutes. While the National Testing Agency (NTA) manages the second session of the Joint Entrance Examination, other autonomous bodies like VIT Vellore and MAHE Manipal have reported a steady stream of applications. This diversified activity ensures that aspirants have multiple pathways to secure a seat in one of the approximately 99,000 engineering positions available across the country for the 2026-27 academic year.

Private University Entrance Updates: VITEEE and MET

Leading private institutions are currently in the middle of their primary application cycles, offering students the opportunity to apply for multiple campuses through a single window.

  • VITEEE 2026: The Vellore Institute of Technology continues to accept forms for its flagship VIT Engineering Entrance Examination. The current deadline for submission is set for March 31, 2026. This entrance exam, scheduled from April 28 to May 3, provides a gateway to campuses in Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, and Amravati.
  • Manipal MET 2026: The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has its MET registration portal active through today, March 15. The first phase of the entrance test is slated for April 13-14. Candidates are advised to complete their profile today to participate in the upcoming slot booking process starting in late March.
  • SRMJEEE Phases: SRM Institute of Science and Technology is currently accepting applications for Phase 1 of the SRMJEEE 2026. This phase-wise registration allows students to choose between three different examination windows spanning from April to July.

State-Level and Regional Consortium Activity

In addition to private giants, several regional boards have activated their portals to facilitate local and All-India category admissions.

  • COMEDK UGET (Karnataka): The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka opened its UGET 2026 registration on February 3. The portal will remain accessible until March 16. The entrance exam is confirmed for May 9, 2026, targeting over 26,000 seats in Karnataka’s private engineering colleges.
  • WBJEE (West Bengal): The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board is expected to conclude its primary registration phase this month. Traditionally a pen-and-paper test, the WBJEE remains one of the most sought-after state exams for its affordable government college fee structures.
  • GUJCET (Gujarat): For those seeking a seat in Gujarat, the GUJCET 2026 application process is in its final verification stage, with the state board currently allowing candidates to rectify image and document errors via the candidate login.

Conclusion

As the 15th of February concludes another week of intense admission activity, the diversity of options available to engineering students has never been higher. Most institutes have adopted a completely digital registration model, making it imperative for students to have their academic transcripts and identity proofs ready in the prescribed formats. The Ministry of Education and AICTE continue to monitor these processes to ensure they adhere to national standards of transparency. Whether an aspirant is aiming for a seat in an NIT via JEE Main or a private university through a specific entrance test, the current month remains the most vital period for strategic planning. Candidates are encouraged to maintain a master calendar of these varying deadlines to ensure they do not miss out on a potential professional opportunity.
