As of January 27, 2026, the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, is actively processing applications for the BITSAT 2026 entrance test. The online registration portal, which was activated on December 15, 2025, continues to receive a steady flow of submissions from students across the country. This first session of the year is a critical opportunity for candidates to secure admission into the Integrated First Degree programs offered at the Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad campuses. The university has confirmed that the window for Session-1 or both sessions will remain open until March 16, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria and Academic Requirements

The 2026 admission cycle features specific academic mandates that all applicants must verify before completing their registration. BITS Pilani maintains a strict merit-based policy with no reservations, making the score achieved in the entrance exam the primary factor for selection.

  • Minimum Aggregate: Candidates require a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (for B.E.) or Biology (for B. Pharm).
  • Subject-Wise Marks: A minimum of 60% marks in each of the core subjects is mandatory to qualify for the BITSAT 2026 evaluation.
  • Year of Passing: Only students who have passed Class 12 in 2025 or are appearing in 2026 are eligible to apply.
  • Revised Clause: Students who are re-appearing in the entire set of Class 12 subjects are no longer eligible for the 2026 university admissions.

Examination Schedule and Fee Details

The examination is conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format over two sessions. Students have the flexibility to choose their preferred date and time during the slot booking process, which follows the initial registration phase.

Testing Structure and Scoring Policy

The BITSAT 2026 exam pattern is designed to test both speed and accuracy. It remains one of the few national-level exams that rewards candidates for completing the paper ahead of time with a set of "bonus" questions to boost their final score.

  • Subject Sections: The test includes Physics (30 questions), Chemistry (30), English Proficiency (10), Logical Reasoning (20), and Mathematics/Biology (40).
  • Marking Scheme: Each correct answer is awarded 3 marks, while a penalty of 1 mark is applied for every incorrect response.
  • Bonus Questions: Candidates who answer all 130 regular questions without skipping can attempt 12 extra questions to enhance their total score.
  • Official Portal: All registration and slot booking activities are managed exclusively through the BITS Admission Website.

Conclusion

The current registration phase for Session-1 is progressing toward the March deadline. Candidates are interacting with the portal to upload their digital documents and finalize their center preferences. Once the initial window closes, the university will open a brief correction window before the commencement of the April examination series. The transparency of the BITSAT 2026 system ensures that results are displayed on the computer screen immediately after the completion of the test.
