The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, is currently accepting online applications for BITSAT 2026, the sole gateway for admission to its prestigious campuses in Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad. Aspirants must complete their registration for Session 1 or both sessions by the March 16, 2026, deadline. This year's cycle features two testing windows in April and May, allowing students to utilize their best score for the final merit list. Ensure your eligibility—including the mandatory 75% PCM/PCB aggregate—is verified before submitting your application through the official admissions portal for the 2026-27 academic session.

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, is currently seeing a steady flow of registrations as the application window for BITSAT 2026 remains fully operational. Having opened on December 15, 2025, the portal is now entering a critical mid-cycle phase, with the deadline for Session 1 (and for those applying to both sessions) firmly set for March 16, 2026. This entrance test serves as the mandatory requirement for securing a seat in the Integrated First Degree programs, including B.E., B.Pharm, and M.Sc., at the Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa, and Hyderabad campuses.

Dual-Session Flexibility and Registration Options

For the 2026-27 academic cycle, BITSAT continues its popular dual-session format, designed to give students a second opportunity to improve their performance. Candidates have the flexibility to register for just Session 1, or both sessions simultaneously by paying the combined fee. The institute has clarified that if a student appears for both, the best of the two scores will be considered for the final BITS Admission merit list.

  • Session 1 Registration: Open until March 16, 2026 (5:00 PM), for exams scheduled between April 15 and April 17.
  • Session 2 Separate Entry: Candidates who initially apply only for Session 1 will have another window from April 20 to May 2, 2026, to opt for the second session.
  • Correction Window: Following the March 16 deadline, an online edit window will be available from March 18 to March 20, 2026, to rectify specific application details.
  • Exam Mode: The test will be a three-hour computer-based evaluation consisting of 130 questions across Physics, Chemistry, English Proficiency, Logical Reasoning, and Mathematics/Biology.

Strict Academic Eligibility and Topper Scheme

BITS Pilani maintains some of the most rigorous eligibility standards among Indian technical institutes. Aspirants must have passed their Class 12 examination in 2025 or be appearing for it in 2026. A key requirement is the aggregate of at least 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (for B.E./M.Sc.) or Biology (for B.Pharm), with at least 60% marks in each of these three subjects individually.

Application CategoryFee for Both SessionsFee for Session 1 Only
Male Candidates₹ 5,600₹ 3,100
Female Candidates₹ 4,600₹ 3,100
Dubai Center (All)₹ 9,250₹ 7,250
Transgender Candidates₹ 4,600₹ 3,100

Furthermore, the Direct Admission for Board Toppers scheme remains active for 2026. First-rank holders from any Central or State board in India are eligible for direct admission into their preferred program, irrespective of their BITSAT score, provided they meet the basic subject-wise percentage criteria.

Slot Booking and Hall Ticket Generation

Unique to the BITSAT framework is the first-come, first-served slot booking system. Once the registration and city allotment phases are concluded, candidates must log in to the official BITSAT portal to reserve their preferred exam date and time slot. For Session 1, this slot booking process is expected to commence in the last week of March, followed immediately by the release of digital hall tickets.

  • Test Center Allotment: Candidates can choose up to three preferred cities; the final allotment will be announced on March 26, 2026.
  • Slot Reservation: The window for reserving dates and timings for the April exams will open on March 27 and close on March 31, 2026.
  • Mandatory ID: On the day of the exam, a printed hall ticket must be presented alongside a valid government-issued photo ID that matches the application data exactly.

Conclusion

With the March 16 deadline approximately one month away, the BITSAT 2026 application process is moving toward its peak. The Birla Institute of Technology and Science continues to uphold a merit-only admission policy, with no management quota, ensuring a fair environment for all engineering and science aspirants. As the April 15 start date for Session 1 approaches, students are advised to finalize their registrations and double-check their PCM/PCB percentages. The 2026-27 academic session at BITS Pilani remains one of the most sought-after destinations for higher education in India, and the current registration phase is the essential first step for any student aiming to join this premier cohort of future innovators and leaders.
