The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam, has opened choice filling for Assam NEET PG 2026 Round 1 state-quota counselling. Eligible registered candidates must submit their college and course preferences by October 30, 2026, at 5:00 PM. Choice locking operates on a separate window from 4:00 PM to 11:55 PM on October 30, and the Round 1 seat allotment result is scheduled for November 2, 2026 .
The counselling covers admission to 50% of postgraduate seats in the Government Medical Colleges of Assam and B.B.C.I., Guwahati, under the Assam State Quota .

Choice Filling vs. Choice Locking: What's Different
Candidates should note that choice filling and choice locking are two separate actions with different deadlines:
Choice filling closes at 5:00 PM on October 30. During this window, candidates can add, edit, and rearrange their college and course preferences.
Choice locking opens at 4:00 PM and closes at 11:55 PM on October 30. For one hour (4:00–5:00 PM), both filling and locking are simultaneously open .
Candidates who complete their preferences before 5:00 PM can proceed to lock immediately when the locking window opens at 4:00 PM.
What Happens If You Don't Lock Manually
If a candidate does not manually lock their submitted choices during the locking window, the system will automatically lock the choices already submitted by the candidate . However, candidates are strongly advised to lock manually to confirm their preferences are exactly as intended, rather than relying on the automatic option.
Eligibility: Who Can Fill Choices
Candidates must meet the following conditions to participate in Round 1 choice filling:
Registered for Assam NEET PG 2026 Round 1 counselling before the extended deadline of October 28, 11:59 PM.
Name appears on the DME Assam provisional merit list for NEET PG 2026 state quota.
Meets the NEET PG 2026 cutoff as prescribed by the National Board of Examinations.
The provisional merit list contains 3,585 candidates after the inclusion of incentive marks and one additional roll number . Candidates should verify their inclusion on the official portal before proceeding.
What Happens After October 30
Seat allotment processing will be conducted from October 31 to November 1, 2026. The Round 1 result will be declared on November 2, 2026, with a college-wise and subject-wise list of provisionally selected candidates published alongside admission modalities.
Candidates allotted a seat must complete physical reporting and admission formalities on November 9–10, 2026 at their allotted institution. Failure to report within this window may result in forfeiture of the seat.
