AILET is the sole entrance examination for admission to NLU Delhi, a premier institution renowned for its academic rigor and contributions to legal scholarship. Key Dates and Application Process
The application window for AILET 2026 will remain open for an extended period, providing ample time for candidates to complete all necessary steps.
- Online Application Begins: August 7, 2025 (as per the latest notification).
- Last Date to Apply: The final date for submitting the online application form is November 10, 2025.
- Application Fee:
- General/OBC/Kashmiri Migrants/Foreign Nationals: ₹3,500
- SC/ST/PwD candidates: ₹1,500
- SC/ST and women candidates who are Below Poverty Line (BPL) are exempt from the application fee.
- Admit Card Release: Admit cards are expected to be issued tentatively two weeks before the examination, in November 2025.
- AILET 2026 Exam Date: The All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2026 will be conducted on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Candidates must register and apply online through the official NLU Delhi website, nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. The process involves creating an account, filling in personal and academic details, uploading scanned copies of photographs and signatures, and paying the application fee online.
Eligibility Criteria and Exam Pattern
The eligibility requirements vary based on the program applied for:
- B.A.LL.B. (Hons.): Candidates must have passed the Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2) or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities). Candidates appearing in their 12th standard examination are also eligible to apply.
- LL.M. (One Year) Programme: Aspirants need to possess an LL.B. degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university with not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities).
- Ph.D. Programme: Requires a Master's degree in Law or a professional degree declared equivalent, with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD).
The AILET 2026 exam for the B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) program will comprise 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with each question carrying 1 mark. The paper is divided into three sections:
- English Language (50 questions)
- Current Affairs & General Knowledge (30 questions)
- Logical Reasoning (70 questions)
There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. The duration of the examination will be two hours. The LL.M. program exam will consist of 100 MCQs from various branches of Law.
