The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), West Bengal, has officially initiated the Choice Filling process for the NEET PG 2025 Round 1 Counselling. This is a critical stage for all registered postgraduate medical aspirants in the state, who are now tasked with selecting their desired specializations and institutions.
High Competition Ahead
The counselling process reveals the intense competition for postgraduate medical seats in West Bengal this year:
- Total Eligible Candidates: 2,139
- Total Available Seats (MD/MS): 1,312
This translates to a competitive ratio of approximately 1.63 candidates competing for every single MD/MS seat available, highlighting the importance of a well-researched and strategically filled choice list. Aspirants must carefully prioritize their preferences to maximize their chances of securing a desired seat.
Key Deadlines for Round 1
Aspirants must strictly adhere to the following dates for choice submission and result announcement:
| Activity | Deadline Date |
|---|---|
| Choice Filling and Locking | November 24, 2025 |
| Processing of Seat Allotment | November 25 – November 26, 2025 |
| Round 1 Seat Allotment Result | November 27, 2025 |
| Reporting and Admission | November 28 to December 3, 2025 (as per earlier notice) |
Immediate Action: Choice Filling
The window for filling and locking choices is short, ending tomorrow, November 24, 2025. Candidates are urged to:
- Meticulously list all available colleges and courses (MD, MS, and PG Diploma) in their genuine order of preference, prioritizing the course/college combination they wish to secure the most.
- Verify the seat matrix provided by the DME to ensure all choices are valid and reflect the latest vacancies.
- Lock their choices before the deadline. While the system usually auto-locks unsaved choices, manually locking ensures confirmation and prevents any last-minute technical errors.
The allotment on November 27th will be based entirely on the candidate's NEET PG 2025 merit rank and the preferences submitted during this choice filling window. For regular updates on admission procedures and official notices, follow Only Education News.
